Our high was 82 and it just dropped 30 degrees when a stiff northwest wind hit at about 7:15 PM. 31 expected by morning. No rain yet.

Was up to 72° today. It's 37° now and raining a bit, front has passed through, expecting ice by 3 AM. All the schools nearby are closed tomorrow, too many hills and curves. Should be over by noon. We mostly read the newspaper online, but we have received post that they won't be delivering until after noon when ice is gone. It will be very quiet up here tomorrow!

I'm really not looking forward to the cold, but since my AC went out today, so it will actually be an improvement.

How lucky you are, Jay. My AC always goes out mid-summer, not winter! Whistling

They're experiencing "thunder sleet" near Lake LBJ, according to KXAN. Time to turn the heaters on!

It sleeted like crazy from 3:30 until 4:00 AM. The wind was blowing so hard that the sleet was hitting our bedroom windows and woke us up. It is raining now and there's about 1/2" of sleet on the ground. I don't know why its not sleeting. It is 32F and will fall to 28F over the next several hours. Everything Jackson, MS north has closed down. There are going to be a ton of accidents due to roads/bridges icing and there will be a lot of power outages due to ice on the trees. Sighing!

Sleet is now about 1" deep and it has started snowing...........hard. We will soon have another "Winter Wonderland" similar to one week ago. Crying

Maybe it will be one of short duration. We had sleet which covered everything and then we got a layer of snow, so travel is pretty much shut down. But the sun is shining. It was below 20F when I got up, but it's expected to be above freezing by noon or sooner and reach the upper 30s in the afternoon. That will be really nice. Especially if the wind stays calm. Most of the ice will be gone by sundown if that happens.

Our pipes froze as we forgot to let the water run. It rained so hard last night that the vent pipes leaked. Snows back.

Since 6:30 AM, our temperature has dropped 2.5F and it is now 30F. It has now started snowing hard again. I'm staying in! Sighing!

Sorry tk! I hope they thaw without busting. I woke up in the middle of the night wondering if I'd covered an outside faucet I used last week. Turns out I did, thankfully.

We had thunder and sleet about midnight. Not sure if that's what they were calling "thunder sleet," but it was noisy. Hoops held up against the fierce winds. We both got up to check twice during the night.
Sun's out for the first time in a week. All the kids in Austin are out for the day. Happy kids, sad moms who have to stay home with 'em. The weather seemed to be a non-issue for Austin.
Tonight it will be down to 30° but dry, so no more icing. I wanted to see snow. Sad
