Hello I'm Rannveig and I live in Iceland. I love hostas and have just about bought every one I've come across here ..... the variety is very limited so I'm enjoying all the photos!
I don't have a hosta bed - I just mix them in with other perennials .... with our cool climate they don't need heavy shade although they do well in shaded areas here too. Just need to give them lots of compost, they hate heavy, wet soil .....
When I saw Hostas for the first time they looked so tropical to me I couldn't believe they could be grown up here! To my delight they do very well here, I've only lost one and that was because of heavy, wet soil ..... Most of them don't flower here, but that's OK I just grow them for the foliage :-)
