Sighing! of green envy there, Jim. Your garden is what mine aspires to be but never will (minus all that grass, though).

I've been entertaining my children and grand children here all week. So, what I am growing I guess is . . family. Second granddaughter turned one last week, with Key Lime pie as a birthday cake. Tropical dress and head band fit the occasion. She is just trying to walk and talk. Such fun.

The 2yr. old is enjoying the beach and pool a lot, My! we have our share of the sand from out there, both in the cars and the house! Her baby brother 3mo. old just pretty much eats, sleeps and poops, y'know?

Big event in the garden this week, other than the snap peas which are a big hit with the kidlets, is the Wormkiller blooming. Synandrospadix vermitoxicum.

I had the telephoto on the camera for bird and kid pictures, so I missed getting a picture of the big bloom event on my Passiflora quadrangularis "Giant Granadilla". It has invaded my mango tree and where the vines hang down it had festoons of extravagant fragrant purple flowers. You'll excuse me if I show an old pic.

Bat flower, Tacca integrifolia is putting on 3 new flowers for me. Guess it likes its new home. The kids think it's pretty weird.

Those granddaughter pictures are precious and that is something I can never aspire to. After that, nothing else matters.

Beautiful show, there Carol. You sure do have lots of great stuff in your tiny garden! Good thing it's tiny though, considering the water shortage, right?

I have some new daylilies to show off. Bought a bargain box of starts from a Florida grower last summer, and I'm now seeing the first blooms on them:

And a couple of named varieties, Siloam Double Classic and Moonlit Masquerade.

I will truly miss all of the beautiful pictures that graced these pages over the years. You created a masterpiece of nature and shared it with us. Thank you so much, Kathy. The good news is we have it all archived and can revisit it at will. I wish you the best of luck as you move into another chapter of your life. God bless.

In the meanwhile, I finished moving all Cacti and Succulents out and I have started on bringing out the Orchids.
Here are some deck pictures from this afternoon. I really like the Stephanotis, need to take more pictures when more buds are open.

My Amorphophallus konjac is in the cage, I am watching its progress, getting ready to bloom!
And the Cherry tree finished blooming and to the left of it you can see the Poncirus trifoliata starting to bloom. The blooms smell heavenly and they are followed by small Oranges, which are not for consumption.

Thanks guys! I will show you my "holding tank" garden in Conway in June. All my best stuff moved there last year. I'm not done yet!

I have a feeling you'll never be done, Kathy. I think you probably always have a "project" on your mind and will never complete them all. Thumbs up

I may have missed it, but where are you moving? There are lots of Conway's.

Oh Ken, knowing Kathy just a bit - yes, I would think she is always tending to her gardens, if one might call that a project, but every one of "those projects" is a wonderful display and surely a Show! We had the pleasure of seeing her gardens in person, it was sheer pleasure, and I will bet her garden to come will be just as pretty!

I hope she keeps us in the loop. It will be fun to see her raise a garden from scratch. We are still planning to come up that way in the fall.

Ursula, what a massive project and you do it twice a year! I'm exhausted just reading about it. It is amazing to see the large variety of plants you have collected. Very impressive. Have you thought about an elevator or at least a lift of some kind that would take the plants directly from the greenhouse to the back yard? Just thinking out loud here.

One of the orchid clubs near Tampa is chartering a bus to Redlands for the big sale. They want $50 for the ride and a snack along the way. That's a four hour ride each way. I'm thinking I could visit Elaine, buy a nice orchid from Rafael at El Plantio, have lunch and still save 6 hours of my day, not to mention that nasty bus ride.
