Wow, that's hot! How did you cope? We're in the low 100's, and I'm
laying low! Should cool off a bit tomorrow though, Sherry.

I brought a fan to put on stage... That helped a lot. I also brought a wading pool and we emptied our ice chests into it. We sat around with our feet in the water drinking margaritas. We coped. Whistling Hilarious!

We only got to about 95 on that hottest day, last night we had a bit of rain, that was odd. And now that high pressure has once again pulled in the low pressure and morning overcast returns to help cool things down further.

Honey Scoop bloomed last Oct, then in Feb. and is now repeating again.

I also just discovered another bloom stalk on one with a missing tag so I'll soon see what it is.

I pulled the last, withered blossom from my " Imperial magic NOT" Japanese iris yesterday, and was lamenting the fact that my first rebloom stalk is still days away from being ready to bloom.......I HATE being "bloomless" ! BUT, and I can't believe I missed it,.........Paltec (species cross) had sent up another stalk, and opened a flower this morning !
Thumb of 2015-07-03/crowrita1/181fad
The reason I can't believe I missed it, ......it's only about 5 feet from that Japanese NOID !!! I'm glad it was an iris, and not a snake !.......I would have been bitten, for sure ! Sticking tongue out

We have a few medians blooming.
Thrice blessed bloomed a couple of days ago. Jewel Baby bloomed two days ago (on the hottest day we've had) and Pink Kitten opened yesterday. I got a picture of the first two.

As is often the case with rebloom stalks, Jewel Baby is a little 'different'.

Red Hot Chili is blooming again. And again, I missed the terminal bloom.
Inner Space has another stalk (not open yet).

I am new to this forum and I have had bearded iris for about nine years, but I didn't know how far they have come since I visited Schreiner's Iris Garden this May. I purchased some of the varieties they had in pots and have an order in. I was thrilled to get "Into the Blue". I moved it from the pot into one of my beds. The other plants had taller bloom stalks with more buds, but I couldn't easily fit it in my car for the long trip home.

When I put my polarized sunglasses on it changes the color I perceive my irises. My old fashioned NoID purple become less blue and my NoID red becomes more intense.

Welcome to the iris forum Highdesertniki! You have some lovely irises.

Cleta, in a normal year I get a longer bloom period by having dwarf bearded irises begin bloom in February. They take different growing care to bloom here because it really is too hot for them in my zone. Their bloom is followed by the Standard Dwarf beardeds and they are very forgiving in their care requirements. Then I have the Intermediates followed by a few Border Beardeds and the Tall Beardeds. This year everything bloomed out of sequence and then the constant rains set in during the TB bloom and I got few photos of them. In an ideal year the dwarfs begin blooming in late February and the TB's bloom time linger into early June. This year was a strange year. I hope next year is more of a normal year.
