Robin, that looks great! I did the same thing with the succulents, because it is our front yard, and other than bloom time, I thought the yard needed added interest.

I'm afraid I will be ripping out more of the succulents, as I know I cannot resist the temptations of more irises! But, I really have to curtail the buying because it looks as tho' your beds are thrice the size of mine. In the back yard (yes suburbia) i only have a bed that is about 1.5' wide by 5', and another space is about 5.5 x 5.5 but is in the shade for 2/3 of the day because of the SW facing fence.

Other than pots, I don't have too many options. So, I have crammed as many irises as I can in the spaces that I have.😖 We will have to do a comparison of blooms, if and when I have maiden blooms. I am looking forward to the rebloomers, too. Look forward to comparing notes.

planted the 3 batches of seeds, all bee pods. One was not this year, had been in an open box in a drawer. However there were 56 seeds, so some should grow. Since we are a cold weather climate, don't need to do the bit with the refrigerater. The boxes are in a trench & covered with wire to keep out besties.

Daphne @shizen,
I have about 25 x 1 metres (82 x 3 feet) of space in my front yard that gets enough sun to plant irises and I am about to replace some lawn with an additional bed for my seedlings. My backyard is much smaller, more shaded and my cat pounces on everything planted there. I am trying to part with an iris every time I acquire a new one but it isn't going too well Hilarious! .

There are some photos of my iris garden in the "Landscape pics" thread in the irises forum.

I have to water a few on a clay hill today and a few other. Today marks 24 days in a row without rain here. There is a misty fog though right now, but that's good for nothing.

Also going to apply garlic or something funky at the garden site at my mom's. Squirrels are digging everywhere in the new bed near the roots. No termites or grubs in there either. Guess the squirrels are just being typical Jack a$$es as always no matter which location.
Gimme it and I'll grow it!

I'm dealing with that too Gabe, it stinks!!! I have to go around every day and fix things up. The squirrels are getting ready for winter so they are very busy digging holes for nuts.

I planted my spring bulbs in my new Iris bed by my car along with plenty of garlic(I felt like I was participating in some strange vampire movie). The soil was moist, not super wet. I also received two different noID Iris from friends, so late in the year I just put them in a pot.

Raining again here this morning and for most of the day, guess it's a good day to do some running around catching up on errands.

Removed a bunch of dead iris foliage and did not find any more rot. So far so good! Thumbs up

Today was overcast and windy! Actually rather gloomy - Just came inside because it is getting dark - 16h30 and have had to put the lights on inside!

I moved my potted rhizomes which I am going to try and overwinter outside to a covered spot because I think they are getting too wet. Now I will just have to make sure they don't dry out. It is my first try at potting and overwinter so Crossing Fingers!

79F here today and its supposed to reach 82 tomorrow. Haven't even seen our first frost yet. It has been a very dry autumn. Feels like summer just doesn't want to let go.

Yesterday I found a box of rhizomes I had divided weeks (or months) ago and had forgotten to replant. I had been having trouble deciding where they would look best and got distracted (it doesn't take much! Hilarious! ). Found a spot where I think they will look good and got them in the ground. Considering how mild the weather still is, I think they'll be okay.

Packed and taped up the last box of irises today. Now all the tables in the barn are empty of iris rhizomes. Hurray!

However, now there are some bulbs and seeds that need to be planted. Unless someone else wants these amaryllis Belladonna's? Whistling They were just dug up yesterday.... Whistling

It's time to shop for some daffodils...or at least get a pre-order ready for the sales. Sticking tongue out

Rob, we were at OSH yesterday and their bulbs are 30% off. Not sure if they are like iris and what's inside the package is what is shown on the outside of the package.
