pulled a lot of weeds in the front where i have a lot of my newly acquired irises. i did sprinkle preen and watered it in, but the 'corn formula' isn't as effective as the old formula. plus, i find that it clumps more in the container and is harder to disperse. the bulk of the offenders were oxalis (redwood sorrel), dandelions, and i think purslane (kinda fleshy prostrate portulaca?).
i gave the thirsty looking irises a drink, repotted 'perfectionist' and 'wing commander' into larger pots (which will be their permanent homes), stripped a 5x5' area of alyssum growing rampant, muscled my 7' lemon tree in a pot towards the fence to make a permanent home in the ground for my pink irises that are now in pots ('in the mix', 'rite of passage', and 'friendly advice' they are in pots large enough to sustain their growth for at least two years. but there are old azalea stumps that have to be dug, and i'll have to convince DH that he will want to help me?
have to think of some kind of incentive, such as extra days of fishing or more golf.....maybe a new t.v. that he's wanted.
i still have two 5 gal. terra cotta pots to transfer irises into, but that'll have to wait. my turn to cook dinner......we're having pot stickers so gotta get busy. they take a long time to fix from scratch.
