Orchard Supply Hardware (OSH)
It's a retail chain store, that has hardware, tools, home-improvement and gardening supplies in a warehouse setting. Like a Home Depot or Lowe's.

I hand watered all the iris. I've been neglecting them and a lot had floppy leaves. Thumbs down The 'rain' we've been getting either doesn't register or is a tenth of an inch.

Starship had a second stalk. I fear frost will kill them both. I can't bear to cut them but I may have to.

Walk around briefly and just took a few pics and pulled a few dead fans.

Noticed Feed Back, my first ever purchased iris is putting on a stalk.

pulled a lot of weeds in the front where i have a lot of my newly acquired irises. i did sprinkle preen and watered it in, but the 'corn formula' isn't as effective as the old formula. plus, i find that it clumps more in the container and is harder to disperse. the bulk of the offenders were oxalis (redwood sorrel), dandelions, and i think purslane (kinda fleshy prostrate portulaca?).

i gave the thirsty looking irises a drink, repotted 'perfectionist' and 'wing commander' into larger pots (which will be their permanent homes), stripped a 5x5' area of alyssum growing rampant, muscled my 7' lemon tree in a pot towards the fence to make a permanent home in the ground for my pink irises that are now in pots ('in the mix', 'rite of passage', and 'friendly advice' they are in pots large enough to sustain their growth for at least two years. but there are old azalea stumps that have to be dug, and i'll have to convince DH that he will want to help me? Whistling Hilarious!

have to think of some kind of incentive, such as extra days of fishing or more golf.....maybe a new t.v. that he's wanted. Rolling on the floor laughing

i still have two 5 gal. terra cotta pots to transfer irises into, but that'll have to wait. my turn to cook dinner......we're having pot stickers so gotta get busy. they take a long time to fix from scratch.

It was cold and very foggy this morning here, so I cleaned closets. Then about 2:00 p.m. it was nice out, but that's nearly time to start feeding the horses, so I didn't do anything outside with the gardens today. Maybe tomorrow will be nicer.

Well, Sunday nite we got a lot of rain here on the east side of the valley, at least where I am. Today was the first day I felt right about digging. Last planted on Saturday. I would happily have traded you and had dry ground to work in.

Those are looking great Gabe! Thumbs up

So much for not having iris rhizomes on my tables. I'm the middle of re-potting some 5 gallon pots. I just can't leave them alone.... D'Oh!

Rob, sorry to make you pot things up. But it is fun to be doing iris things, no? I have some potatoes to pot, a drainage ditch to add to a garden, then decide if I should plant new iris where the potato rhizomes were....
84 degrees today, 60's tomorrow. I should have done more today. Did get the sprinkler out on the new garden plantings though. Still no after Matthew rain here.

87 here today and supposed to be no warmer than 74 tomorrow. Warm for November and all the insects are still out and busy. I am waiting for a good hard frost before I can tackle garden chores.

I wasn't potting rhizomes, I was un-potting and re-potting irises that were getting too close, or touching the edge of their pots. Some of them I had to break in half and pot them in 2 pots. I still ended up with some pieces that I'll plant in the ground. I still have some more to re-pot....then I can call it "done" for the year. If you know me, it's more like "done" for a couple of days. *Blush* Sticking tongue out

thank you barbalee, not too bad for a 4'10", wizened septuagenarian?

i lied, too i said that it would only be 72 deg. but it was closer to 80. too hot for me to be doing all that, but i thought i'd better get al the irises in their permanent homes so we can travel for a while without worrying about the garden in december.

we'll be jax, for two weeks, and the temps here could be in the mid to high 70's.

i checked some of my 're' and i think 'saxon' might be trying to bloom, along with 'tiger play'. i think the latter is confused and i maybe counting my chickens prematurely....the leaf looks like it's swelling w/a bloom stalk. as i have said before, i've never paid this closes attention to my irises before. nodding Whistling i'll be elated if it is.👏🏻 Hurray!

. it is not listed as a re?

Daphne, I can't imagine what else a bulge in the leaf could be, so you probably have a bloom on the way Hurray! . I haven't seen Tiger Play before and I like the bold cheery colours and the stripes.

First frost and the Dahlias are all black and dead-looking. Have to move them under cover to dry them out before they can be put away for winter.
Gloomy and raining again today, but yesterday was sunny and I managed to clear out a lot of rampant perennials from a future iris bed out front and to put in some bulbs, including Iris reticulata 'J.S, Dijt'.
Of course I talk to myself; sometimes I need expert advice!

Just transplanted 1of 3 LA iris pots, about to bust through. Left it together as a clump as roots were happy intact.
Thumb of 2016-11-04/Cuzz4short/fda58a

Also transplanted Low Ho Silver. Last year I showed a pic of these and they were dime size in my palm with really large roots. All grown up now.

Lo Ho Silver is a really good rebloomer in the south.
