I always get at lest one Tree Frog indoors on the plants. Took me for ever to figure out that they makes noises. Last winter was a new record - one actually made it alive until I took him outside in the Spring. Too warm inside for them to hibernate (I assume.) Not sure that they can find something to eat. The one that lasted would visit my desk once in a while. Takes a it of practice not to jump when there is suddenly a frog on your desk in Jan. Caught him a couple of times and put him in a pot, watered the pot. Can't put him outside in Jan. Gene

Sally, IDK about mastering anything but enjoying the plants, my only goal, but thank you so much for your kind words.

ENJOY the plants, almost a mantra. I love playing with potting etc, and seeing new things happen, but also am happy to find new homes for some when I don't have enough places to display or grow them. I'm thinking of Curb Alerting a four foot tall Yucca guatemalensis. Nice plant I rescued from the neighbor and grew for a year to learn about its habits.

I finally got around to taking a picture of my houseplants summering outside (Well, it's technically not Summer yet, so springing? Nah, that doesn't sound right).



The location is probably permanent, but time will tell since this is our first year in this house. I will move them off our garden bench and nearby the bench once we get the backyard cleaned up (mounds and mounds of pine straw... and ticks apparently).

Nice plants Hamwild! Lucky you to be able to leave them outdoors by summer..some of them will get toasted here when our super dry and hot days arrive so some of them has to stay indoors here year round, hate too much dry heat, and hate our wet winters..oh well.

But Spring is so nice this time, they are getting a good reprieve.

I am happy to finally have somewhere to put them outdoors. Our apartment patio would get too hot in the Summer and even my couple outdoor potted plants would burn!

The front of this brick planter (the side facing in this pic) is in quite a bit of sun, but the back side is shaded by the taller plants and the cover of my work area.


Various shade lovers are spending the summer there.
