I'm getting ready to bring all the house plants back inside. Plan ahead. Had a cleaning crew come and give the whole house the once over. I did the windows. Took all the saucers and trays outside, cleaned with garden hose. Trays and saucers back inside distributed on window ledges, shelves. Test all light fixtures. Starting to spray all plants outside with Azamax on a regular basis now. My average first frost date is 27 Sep. Keeping a keen eye on the long (and short) range forecasts. A good fall is when I see the cold temps coming and can gradually brining plants inside. Checking each for bugs and tree frogs. Taking cuttings, repotting if needed. A bad fall is when I am not this prepared and they suddenly change the forecast. Gene

TYVM, Ibis! I didn't notice your comment had been added until now.

Whew, Gene, that sounds like some good exercise too! Your plants that I've seen all look very happy from your efforts!

I don't use drip trays or have any light fixtures, & take plants outside on nice days for a drink during winter. The only thing I check for before bringing inside is ants in the soil. AFAIK, there are no pests on plants, I check constantly. The occasional armyworm does show up, I toss those into the "grass." There are anoles that hang out on my plants, so I've never sprayed any 'cides. I'll start monitoring forecast for potential frost in mid-late Oct. Last year it was late Nov, plants back outside 3/1. Hoping for a short winter again!

OK, I think I am done for today or at least my back says so. 496 plants back inside. A few to go. I do have some room left and many lights not turned on yet. Biggest plants are still outside so it might prove interesting. Gene

It was 92 here yesterday, woke up to 56! Time for me to start thinking about the great migration soon too. This morning, some plants looked invigorated, some looked scared and confused. Had a good pep talk with everyone, it's going to be an absolutely gorgeous day!

Last ground pics for these plants this year. They are getting sticky honeydew spots from being under the trees.

Aglaonemas, Begonias, straggly Coleus cuttings that never did anything but wilt in the severe drought this summer.

Great migration!
My oh my Gene, that is a lot.
I am trying to make some sense of my (much smaller) assortment, who goes where: my house and looking nice (which room? Which pot?), my workplace, my basement under lights, basement windowsills semi dormant, MIL apartment, give away...
Plant it and they will come.

I think these pots are about as full as they can be. Ready to come inside when frost threatens.

You have mastered the art of the mixed 'houseplant' pot, TIffany. I still keep them single because it seems one overtakes another those times I have tried.
Plant it and they will come.

I have all my house plants back inside. A little room left over and I'm not running as many lights as I did last Winter, a good thing. Yesterday I heard that familiar Fall sound from my living room: Tree Frog. Caught 4 before they got a free ride inside but I usually miss some. Gene

Gecko! in Georgia? Geez, what else can DH expect to find? So far, one green lizard and one praying mantis, which he kindly dispatched outdoors. I'd treated the plants with Bayer 3n1, but neglected to hose the plants down before bringing them in one evening. Rolling my eyes.

But, he's already warned me that if he finds one one those long brown critters with big beady eyes that he's been seeing around my summering plants outdoors, I am on my own. Whistling I think it's some kind of salamander, but man the thing is huge; too scary looking for me. Blinking

Hahaha Gene! I've had a couple grey frogs in my deck plants this year and wondering if the cool nights will give them any hints about going to the ground out in the yard. Or if they'll just go in the potting mix Blinking
Plant it and they will come.
