I have long beans, Rita. I love them too. Does it taste like spinach, Arlene?

One of these days the rain will stop and I'll be able to work in the garden. I'm getting ready to start building an ark! Blinking

Send some up our way, Tom. I am hoping that it won't totally stop raining here now like it does every year about this time. Then we have drought for the rest of the season Thumbs down

Yes, it does sort of taste like spinach but it is thicker and flashier then spinach leaves

Sort of chased texture? Do you dislike chard taste or texture?

update on my veggie garden...there are many green tomato's on the plants (some are the size of baseballs) and baby zuch's, marketmore cucumbers, and a few peppers. The flea beetles have destroyed my eggplants this year so I think they are a bust.

here is cantaloupe's, watermelons, corn and rattlesnake green beans. Have some sunflowers growing along the left side.

Pots on my sunny driveway. I planted them all in tomatoes this year. Lots of fruit setting as these are made to be grown in pots.

I took a few pics in the kitchen garden today - it is mostly still at the "sticks & string" stage - but its promising. I spotted the first tomato blooms on the Goose Creek and the Santa Maria. Hurray! And planning on harvesting some Pak Choy this evening (that I didn't take a picture of for some reason)

If I didn't have that kind of structure in my garden it would be total chaos. I seem to have both the need to be very controlling and the tendencies to let everything go to hell. I also don't have an enormous harvest since I only get about 6 hours of sun at the best, so I want it to at least look good Shrug!

I still have a lot of work left to do - the paths all need more wood chips, and there is a section (not pictured), that I haven't weeded or planted at all yet - its a jungle of mostly wild phlox right now - and they are done blooming so its not pretty.

Thanks - it is always looking good this time of year - to early for insect and fungus problems. It looks like its going to be a beautiful day here today, and I should be able to get some work done.

We've had rain pretty much every few hours ever since I sowed the last batch of seeds. That coupled with high humidity and very warm temps have made for perfect seed sprouting weather. Direct-sown cukes, long beans , spaghetti squash and zucchini are all up and growing. Hurray!

All of them are netted or caged for destructive critter prevention, so my gardens look pretty strange (again) this year.

I missed bringing in the grocery bag with the new jug of milk last evening, so today I'll be spraying it on plants that are susceptible to problems in sustained wet conditions. We're not supposed to have a dry day until perhaps Monday, (but less rain today) so it seems like a good idea to be proactive.
