Garden.org Admin

Well. That was interesting.

A bug in ATP was triggered (by me) tonight and it made an infinite loop in the most catastrophic way. It brought the site completely down and had me scrambling to even figure out what happened. Thankfully I'm not a complete noob at programming and I isolated and disabled the block of code that caused the problem.

Sorry for any inconvenience anybody suffered. Know that while you were panicking with ATP withdrawal, I was panicking with trying to get it back online.

I don't anticipate any further problems tonight.

Usually I am struggling to keep my internet connection and cursing (who, me?) at my computer.
Tonight my computer worked fine and ATP was broken. Now that's funny!
(Okay, it's totally not funny and I am sooo glad that our Dave is a smarty pants programmer.)

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

Dave - Just curious .... do you have a backup generator in case of power outage?

To see ATP offline is a rarity! Very happy you managed to figure it out and fix the problem ASAP! Thanks!

You know .... probably the worst fear among most is a world-wide outage of all electronic devices. Can you imagine having no computer, no cell phones, no TV, etc. ? That would be like stepping into the twilight zone. Many young people these days have never known a world like that. Blinking Whistling Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

Ah ha!, I actually still had the error page on another tab, I was going to ask you why I was getting:

"Database error: / connect to database localhost failed: User root already has more than 'max_user_connections' active connections
MySQL Error: 0 ()
Session halted"

Glad your panic mode was brief and you had everything back in place in no time! nodding

Interestingly I had a discussion about just this with someone the other day; the skillset needed for a world without computers is rapidly disappearing... Who remembers how to send a telex? Confused

or show someone under the age of 20 a typewriter and see how many can identify it. That happened to my son a few years ago with one of his kids ... they went to an antique or thrift store and saw a typewriter ... my grandson had no idea what it was!

And I've often said 'how did we ever go anywhere new without a GPS?' I can't imagine being without one now.

I guess I missed it too because I went to bed at 9:15 last night ... ATP is my home page and I would have panicked for sure if I'd opened my laptop and found no access! I probably would have logged into FB to see if there was any news there about the outage. Green Grin!

Whew ... we are so thankful for our smart leader/techie/programmer Dave. Thumbs up
