I'm In the process of staging my condo, but finally had a bit of sun on the porch, so here is
LC Jacqueline Kennedy 'Jilltara' I obtained from Waldor orchids last year. I usually have found all my First Ladies thru Chadwick's but this one.

Oooh, send some of that "cool" down this way, willya? We are having summer weather here at least a month early.
Was hoping to get a good douse of rain last night but the big, strong weather front pretty much petered out just as it got to us, and we had one short spritz of rain about 5min. At the very least, behind this front there could be some cooler air for a day or two . . .

The chances of me wearing a sweatshirt until late October are bleak. We did get a little rain yesterday afternoon and they are calling for rain again this afternoon. This is more like June than April.
Bert, that is a very nice First Lady you have there. It looks fragrant too??
Gigi, nice Vanda show there. I haven't found quite the right environment for Vandas since I built the OC. They really struggle for me and I haven't bought any for a while. I think I need a mister that comes on every couple of hours.
Out in the OC the big Schomburgkia undulata is opening its buds:
I have been underneath work issues (contract season). Only 10 days left!!
Yesterday, we separated all of the orchids that we were "nursing" from the MBG to get them ready to return. Today, they go back and I get some much needed real estate.
I also had to toss three. It was a really tough decision, but one just had UGLY blooms combined with another found infestation at the roots. The other two were just so enormous and had never bloomed for us, I just could not justify the amount of space they were taking.
Awesome! I can see some real breathing room in the Greenhouse now.

It's a lovely color combo, Tarev. Way to go!
Jim, would you please send some of those clouds and thunder and RAin!! down this way? Great show, there and especially love the white Schom. D'you think one of those silly orchid boffins' name is Collier? He just said, "I'm going to re-name this nice Gerberara after myself and make the name utterly unpronouncable." Mine had a flower last month but the flower thrips got to it before I even got a picture of it. Yours are always much pinker than mine.

It's pouring here now and the wind blowing through the windows has toppled some orchids in the OC. I'm repotting now but must leave in a minute as I'm singing tonight at an ALF. I hope the rain lets up as I know the traffic will not.

Elaine, I still haven't figured if the color on Gerberara snow ballet is the result of sun, heat, or both. I never know what to expect when it starts blooming. We are still bouncing from low 70s to 90 on a weekly basis. Low 70s and cloudy for the rest of this week. Since it is a one time cross, and there aren't many around, it was Gerberara when I bought it, many years ago and it shall remain a Gerberara. If I should give away any divisions, maybe I'll send along it's pedigree with it. I'm sure not going to try to put it on a hand written tag!
PS Mine does have deeper color where it gets more sun, and it will take quite a bit.
Wow, what a super Show while I was playing with the Grandchildren!!
Roberta, I love the 'Jilltara', what a beautiful Cattleya!
Jim, I don't really have a favorite here, so many lovelies and "handsomelies" :hearts:/ see the gorgeous Schoms!!
Tarev, for the Baldan's Kaleidoscope!
We had a really good soaker here, much needed to fill up the rain water containers in the garage. I had wished for the rain to wait another day, we had scraped the partially peeled paint of the pond on the inside and I painted it yesterday. But the pond looks alright and is already half filled up with clean water. I am happy, all Waterlilies survived this harsh Winter, we had them placed on the bottom of the pond.
When I was taking pictures yesterday I missed one. This is Bc. Memoria Vida Lee 'Limelight' (Bc. Binosa x C. Brazilian Treasure):
I'm still thinking as to why they would change the name Gerberara to Collierara. These are just people's names. The "ara" means it is a multiple genera hybrid of at least three genus. The rest of it is just someone's name. Think of Fredclarkeara. So the boffins have arbitrarily decided not to name the orchid after Mr. Gerber but rather change it to Mr. Collier? Didn't the hybridizer get to make that decision long before the boffins arrived on the scene? I may never understand this silliness.

Jim, nice color on the Bc. lip.
You know, talking about those "...ara", why the Iwanagaara was changed to Jackfowlieara is also a total mystery to me. That Jack Fowlie was better a really well liked Gentleman, that's all I can say!
You know, they have changed the "ara" rule at least three times that I know of. The first one was to just take a word and put the "ara" onto the end of it or just make up a word that ended with "ara". That word, like "Potinara", would be used for an orchid made up of at least 4 genera. Then they dropped the genus requirement to 3 and said it had to be a name, not just a word. Thus we have a genus like "Aliceara". Then they said no, it has to be both a first and last name so we have my last purchase, a "Fredclarkeara", Silly boffins!
