A couple of bloomers for me today.
Phalaenopsis schilleriana - huge bloom and pretty flat. I wish it grew faster.

Yes, I agree, but the equestris is special.

Oops, I meant to post this here, not on the Coryanthes thread:

Noid Encyclia from Trader Joes, lots of buds, nice fragrance.

I agree nice form and color. There are too many stop lights between me and the closest Trader Joes. I wish they would build one up this way.

I'm on my way out the door right now to go get groceries at TJ's. It's just over a 5 minute drive for me Big Grin . I always peruse their selection of orchids on my way in the door. Mostly they're Phals and a few Dens but sometimes there are some interesting ones. Their prices are great, too. Generally $12.95 or so.

I think I got that one last fall some time, and this is the second rebloom it's done for me. Great value!

I have two TJ stores in my vicinity. I actually drive right past one a couple of times weekly. That one had gorgeous Phals today.

Dendrobium thyrsiflorum has opened but I don't want to disturb it yet. It still has several spikes working so I will take photos this weekend.

Some preliminary pictures of my Encyclia bractescens this cloudy morning - I always look forwards to this one in bloom!

Pretty flowers, Ursula. That's their diameter? Fragrant?

thanks! Smiling
Ken, this is not a huge sprawling Encyclia, and the individual blooms measure ca. 2 inches across. No scent detected.

I'm off to talk with the Episcopal Church Women. This is the first time I have done an open gardening forum so we will see how it goes. This is a group of older ladies and I'm afraid a formal lecture will put them to sleep.

I'm just back from the church presentation and the open forum was a big hit. Those ladies were all on the edge of their seats anxious to ask a question. No blurry eyes nor head bobbing this afternoon. I think I hit a home run with this idea. Perhaps I should do more of this.

What is an "open gardening forum", Jim? Shrug!
