Anne, you should take a whiff of my yard. The whole thing smells like the compost bags they leave out in the rain. Its just gray Spring days and drizzles. A wet Spring that MAY merge into a wet summer, and cool. Sometimes tomatoes do just that -sit. Had an inch of rain early, and more drizzles thru the day. I get the feeling that even the air is green.

Did Temple ever get hit hard with hail this morning for about 15 minutes. It was accumulating like never before since I've lived here! "Shooter" marble size to quarter size and varying smaller bits. Decimated my Lamb's ear (just came back & bloomed, first time since our yard man whacked it all off 2 years ago), ripped my lantana plants up badly and destroyed all the leaves on my only canna clump that was just about to set some bloom stalks. You wouldn't believe the leaves and small branches it dumped on the street and everybody's yards. It'll take us a couple days to clean & bag up the mess for pickup. My Magnolia 'Genie' just planted out this week did OK through it all, so there was one positive thing in all of this.

Oh no... what a set back. I hope the hail didn't do damage to your home and vehicles too.

High winds and hard rain here all afternoon and evening. I got a notice from the county, warning of traveling on roads until they can assess the damage in daylight.
Definitely cooler temperatures here.

We got no storms yesterday - well, 0.01" of rain - but more wild weather is predicted today. Including hail. We'll see...

Both cars were in the garage. Won't be able to get our roof guy out to inspect the roof for awhile, I suspect. No visible damage we can see from the ground though. I'll bet our neighbor's newish PU truck (he has to keep in the driveway) took some dings, though I couldn't see anything from my front window when he drove off to work this morning.

A friend in Georgetown just south of us said he just got a little rain, but nothing heavy like we got.

Mine is starting to smell like that to, especially after yesterday evening. I'm so sick of rain! I wish I had a dome over my yard. At least a water resistant force field that I could turn on and off as needed. Hilarious!

Back yard not mowed in a week, gee. Which means 8 or 9 inches tall. Home from pond, about to start mower.

We finally got our share of the storms. Wind, thunder and lightning, 2.06" of rain, BUT no hail!

Had lots of thunder and almost no precip. Still need rain, tired of drought.

Supposed to have all sorts of wicked storms and hail 2" to 3" in size, got really hot, then lightning and thunder and gusty winds hit. I covered plants by hanging buckets upside down on the stakes over them. Ended up, lots of storm, 1/4" rain and no hail. I am thankful, I will take that scenario over a worse one. Still see storms running east along the gulf coast, but I don't think they will make it any farther north than Houston city.
Saw Dr today, she hit me with a steroid shot, and adjusted some meds I am still waiting to pick up from Walgreens tomorro. Hey, I lost 10# so I am a happy human. Still more green out there than plants, no way I can get into mowing, it would leave ruts in the muddy sand.

My thoughts on the mowing too. Need a 4WD mower with water wings. LOL

Up to 4 inches here since yesterday afternoon. Enough already!

back is mowed. St Augustine in front still doesn't need it. The french drain on the downhill side and the sump pump on the up hill are the only reason I've not been flooded again. Although there is also a sump dug in under my house with a float switch just in case

I think summer has a foot in the door as of today, mid 80's to 90's going up by next week. Sunshine, wow the sunshine out there- I will need to mow a few spots today and hopefully be able to see over the tops of the St Augustine to get the job done.

Yep, sun is shining on the mud here. A break from the rain, today and Wednesday with rain back on Thursday, Friday, etc.

It was actually a nice, sunny day and I got to enjoy it. Watched the Mississippi Kites flying around and a mockingbird was just singing away until it suddenly quit; probably got a dry throat. Hilarious!

Man, I'm not a happy gardener today. Went out front for an inspection of my corner flower bed and discovered the hail ripped my 2nd season, just-starting-to-take-off elephant ears to smithereens. Both clumps! Grrr. Between last year's yard service whacking off everything small in the opposite bed, my husband mistaking small irises at the front edge of the bed for weeds and whacking them, and now Mother Nature's hail...................I'm beginning to think I'll NEVER get my garden beds looking nice at this house. Something thwarts all efforts every season for me.

On a brighter note, my Stella d'Oro Daylilies and young Japanese Maple, in the same bed, came through it well. Smiling
