Christabel, 1934 seems closest to me, sounds right on every point made here:

Arlyn--no don't bother with a return, I have other yellow registered SDBs & should start to work on beards. ☺ L. Hiawatha is in bloom & I will get a piece to you. Not much left, but I am fine with that. My Baby Snowflake seems a bit wider, but from the path on the other side of the bed, I can see a bit of green at the hafts. The beards are white & disappearing the throat as yellow, but I think it was before we started getting multi- colored beards.

Oh, how I love this game Neal! Let me mess with your mind a little more.
I will have to beg to differ on the Christabel conculsion as the haft marks are too "defined" on it while yours are more "blended" for a lack of better term. Kinda like a woman would try to blend the defining line of her eye liner, if that makes sense.
I would lean more towards

You guys are a baaaad influence! Hilarious! Hilarious! I went to the Bluebird Haven website thinking I might order Flounced Marvel to check the NoID I posted yesterday (thanks Sue for the tentative ID! I tip my hat to you. ) and that got me started looking for a 'few' others to order with it.

I've been thinking (and I blame all of you!) that some historics would look nice in the planter areas of my garden...so I started a list of possibilities. Then I looked up some of them on ATP and ended up going through Lori & Brett's iris lists. At that point I had a list of over 70 historics...and then I decided to catch up on this thread...so I now I'm sitting with a list of 83 historics...most of them 1930's and older!

Of course I have neither the money, space, or energy to buy, plant, and maintain that many....so now I have to narrow the field. Sticking tongue out I am in trouble!!! Rolling on the floor laughing

But it is wonderful to enjoy the photos you have all been sharing!! You have made a believer out of me!! nodding

I think there is an iris called Little Lucy (always hated that as a kid). You can always call it 'yellow goof'.

Lori, you're a wealth of knowledge! What has me wondering about this noid is its almost a self, not nearly as much color difference between standards and falls as your last 3 photos. I did notice what you mentioned about the definition of the lines on the hafts. This one is more in the red/orange spectrum, with no hints of mauve or plum. Rhea, Joy, and Rameses look more like the coloring of Indian Chief, and like they would look good growing together, but this noid looks more orangy next to IC.

This could be a card game! Cards with photos of Irises, and clues to the names!

http://irisparadise.com/Iris/i... Neal, if you have never looked around this site, you should.....one of these rainy days ! It's in German, but there is an "English" button! This is usually my "go to" site for hunting info.....

Maybe I'll just call it "first try", Lucy !! Sticking tongue out

The historics are tougher, Arlyn. Surely they will survive!

Arlyn, that doesn't look right for Indian Chief. Or is it especially pale this year?
