Nice one's Becky.

Yesterday was good day for me and the seedling patch.
These two are sibs, both large with nice scape's, I think
the best two large patterns I have done.

Well Ill say this Fred, youve got some of the best seedling Ive seen in a while this year. Really enjoying them.

Im getting ready to plant seeds from orders from last year I didnt get too. I think they should be fine thru the summer, as long as in more shade. I wanna make darn sure if my pods dont get ready in time, Ive got some babies next spring. Im actually only setting a few pods myself this year, I ned to let the plants just be happy and healthy for a year.

Fred - Your 2 large patterned daylily blooms are gorgeous! Really, really nice! Love those toothy blooms, too! Thumbs up

Ashton - "Riot On The Kindergarden Bus X Kaledoscopic Intrigue" is a very interesting cross. Please post more of that cross when it has additional blooms. I received a gift plant of Riot on the Kindergarten Bus a year ago, but I must have done something wrong as the plant didn't make it. The other plants I ordered were fine and have been blooming, but that one didn't last long here in Florida.

Pat - Lovely blooms!

Here are two more ROTKB X Kaleidoscopic Intrigue. These are from last year.
I also have another, it is a purple ruffled one.
I would guess that they are all true sibs even though they look so different.

That second one is my favorite, most of the time I find these types of daylilies just gaudy looking, but this one really looks nice.

This seedling doing 1st ever bloom today is at least 6.5" wide
and may be 'Gnashing of Teeth' x 'Jackie Kennedy Onassis' but I'm not
totally sure because there was sudden tag failing previously.

But I like green on her sepals even though there is some canoeing
(Well, nobody is perfect!).

When I came around the corner row and saw her, I just stopped in my tracks.
Hope you like her too.

Fred,

Why do you say the canoeing will go away? I wish for it to go away, but while the expression of it may diminish, it is still there on the blooms.

I think it should be me doing the apology! I reread my post and didn't like how it was worded. It sounded argumentative and that sure wasn't the intention. It was meant to be a genuine question about the canoeing characteristic. I've tended to avoid acquiring plants whose photos show the trait, but nearly all of those in the color/pattern of Dizzy Damselfly show some canoeing and I wanted to grow that color/pattern and picked up DD. My only experience is with the blooms on that. There are a couple on my wish list in the color/pattern and skinnier blooms, but they are newer and beyond what I'm willing to take a chance on in terms of their current price. That's hardly any experience at all. The trait has been evident on all the blooms of DD, but isn't always expressed as strongly on some blooms. I don't even know why I find it so objectionable. I tend to like all the crazy stuff on UFs and Spiders, so it doesn't seem reasonable to dislike canoeing so much. But there it is :).

I did not take it that way Donald, I have enjoyed all your post.

This bloomed for the first time yesterday, its not
very impressive like some of the other patterns
but is the largest round pattern I have done and has
great parentage so I used the pollen.

I have for some reason gotten hooked this year on the big round ones. It always been spiders and ufos that are my first love, but these big ole round ones...love.

I have shown the siblings to this before, but this is the one Ive been waiting for to bloom, of the siblings. It has such a tall scape good branching. As you can se...its the story of my seedling plight. Best flowers come off worst plants and I finally get a great plant and the flower is...well not so great. I think Im going to keep it for a bridge plant for one year and see what its babies do, since its sibling were far better looking. This was the first bloom, Ill see what the rest do.
Man... Shrug!
