I made the effort to wade through waist-high roadside weeds several times, several different years, to gather cypress vine seeds and scattered them repeatedly in the same spot. Finally after a few years, some sprouted.

I cordatotriloba seeds have never sprouted. Opportunities to gather those seeds are more rare.

I think my Mom has that one growing on her fence. Or did. I don't think it returned last year after many years. Thinking

Both Cypress Vine and Cardinal Climber can reseed itself in warmer climates, but not in colder zones. I only put some in a planter with a trellis for the hummingbirds, so I can't say whether it would reseed or not in Zone 5. I'm not very good at remembering to grab seeds before they blow away either from most plants, so I usually just buy the seeds when I'm out.

One of my cypress vines already popped up. Question is... is it one that I just planted (one of the seeds was really popped open after I soaked it) or did one of the original two that were planted a couple weeks ago decide to make an appearance? If only I could remember where I planted those two the other day. Hilarious!

Ham, do you think 99% of seeds are programmed to not sprout unless they are forgotten for at least a day?

I found some elm seedlings in with my annual seedlings. I think they thought they could be sly. Whistling

I'm almost done with the dismantled ring garden. I have about 1/8th of a spot left. I probably could of pushed myself a little bit and finished today, but I was already tired of slipping in the mud I made. Hilarious!

I decided that once I mix in all the amendments I want to add to the clay, put my edging back, and put mulch down, I'm not going to plant a vitex yet. I might do it in the Fall or wait until next year. I already have a tree to keep an eye on water wise and I'm going to be transplanting three lantanas from my Mom's soon (so those will need to be babied for a little whole), so I don't want to worry about a shrub out front too. And I also have a newly-ish planted Yucca that hasn't been in the ground for a month yet that I'm still babying. I think that will give the ground enough time to settle too.

I finished digging in the dismantled ring garden today.💪😴 I was going to wait to finish until Monday but I got the urge to finish today. I dumped some black cow top soil on top for now, but DH is going help me Monday to add some soil conditioner and black cow compost and mix it all together with the clay and flatten it out. Maybe by the end of next week I'll have the edging and mulch down.

Thanks a pretty big project. Glad that DH is helping. Good luck. Can't wait to see finished photos.

Today I did a little clean up in a couple of Iris beds. My BFF came by for a short visit. I think she is going to come help me next week with a few things that I want help with. I feel I am way behind getting stuff done.

It doesn't much to feel behind. Either the weather isn't cooperating (rain) or one just doesn't feel like dealing with it. Ans then it's too hot. Hilarious!

DH would have helped me with the root removal, but I worked on it for the most part while he was at work. nodding

I think I see some cosmos in my annual seedlings. They look to be the first ones with their true leaves. And now I have a second cypress vine seedling (I don't think I mentioned that yet). We will see if in time the other two (I suspect original two) make an appearance. Shrug!

Hello! Had a glorious day puttering in the garden. Drizzly, windy, and I think a bit of hail at some point but I was just really happy to be outside getting stuff done. Planted out a few seedlings I'd started, went to the nursery for more (there is always more), dug out a couple of things that didn't survive our January cold snap (RIP agastache, I'll miss you), and scattered some cosmos seeds around places where I think they'll look pretty if they decide to germinate. This is really my favorite time of year.

Looking good Kat. Do you harvest your Hyacinth Bean to eat the dried seeds? I have grown it but never for consumption.

Too rainy here all day to be outside so I have spent a lot of my day so far cleaning a much neglected house.

Hey guys, what do you think of this grow kit? I found it, and it looks interesting. It's from the same company where I got my aquaponics tank.
