When youre 80 you can choose when you want to have your party.
There will be flowers of course.

Lynn, I am so surprised to still be here. My mother threw herself a 80th party,all her family. I thought it would be a fun thing to do.

A few years ago I started having a Christmas in July because our winters were so bad I could not get around to see all my friends. So around the end of July I put together a party.

I put the tree up and decorate the yard. I love those laser shower lights. All I have to do is stick it in the ground and the entire house is covered in lights and I put my Nutcrackers coming down the driveway and the outdoor decor is done. I have been wrapping gifts for a month now. I picked up a bunch of stuff at the after Christmas sales.

When you get old you realize you need to have as many parties as you can.

I was talking to my friend about the party and said how egocentric to throw one for myself. She said when she turned 80 she realized it was time to do what-ever, not to put things off.
We also have horrible winters so I chose a June date when the garden would be full of blooms.
Of course we had a queer spring and the lamium has taken over but the guests don't know there are lilies and balloon flowers missing and the deer have eaten the phlox down a bit.

What a difference ten days makes.
