I know how you feel Mary Ann.

Lovely shots Mikey. And I love that Sib Colonel Mustard, and the white and butterscotch TB above Cherry Blossom Song. I would have an impossible time if I were a judge in that judging room!

After our visit to Mid-America Garden they took us to a local Peony farm for a box lunch. Then we had about half an hour to look at the display garden.

Of course, there was a gift shop to buy all things peony related.
They also had the peonies for sale.

Did you make it to Mt. Pleasant too? I hope someone did because I really want to see the JI's too.

yes Adelmans. I want that Jean Erickson. Have to find a spot to put it first. It is more red than the photo in their catalog & that is how it looked to me.

We made it to Mt Pleasant Iris Farm. I'll get to it eventually. I have a lot of pictures to process.
The JI's were just starting to bloom. Mt. Pleasant had mostly seedlings open.

Same at Aitken's Salmon Creek Garden. Lots and Lots of buds, but only one open. And it was one of Chad Harris's (Mt. Pleasant) introductions. Another two weeks and they both would have been glorious.

Thanks for letting me know. They both carry some beauties. Chad's seedlings must have been interesting. I love the iris I have of his.

Here are my Adelman Peony Gardens photos. My camera card got filled here and I had to switch over to my point and shoot camera as I was too lazy to walk to the bus to get my spare card.

Nice peony shots, Mikey. Well all the shots are good.
I think the older lady taking the picture of the white peony is none other than Lorena Reid.
She was doing Ji's and species crosses with irises before I got started with irises in the early 80's.

I know that Mikey already posted her photos of Schreiner's Iris Gardens. Here are mine.

Scheiner's display garden is something to see. It's not just clump after clump in row after row of irises. It's much more. They have always planted their show garden with a myriad other companion plants. It is really something to see.

Since it is Schreiner's Iris Gardens, I'm going to start with the Schreiner iris.

There were two areas planted for the convention, a bearded area at the front of the garden and a beardless area at the back.
Here's the rest of the bearded iris I photographed. There was also a very nice area of collected Dykes Medal winners. I have included some of those.

Even though Schreiner's does mostly Tall Bearded, they had some nice clumps of beardless guests growing for the convention.

They have many specimen trees around the garden.
This one caught my eye.

As the sun was breaking through the clouds for the only time of our garden tours, it was time to leave Schreiner's Iris Gardens.
But we had to stop and have a piece of cake. After all, it was their 90th anniversary.

All these pictures are gorgeous. I've been to Schreiner's. Such a lovely place. Their display gardens are beautiful no matter what time of year.

The specimen tree is a Dappled Willow, Salix integra Hakuro Nishiki. Beautiful!

As we left Schreiners the bus drove past a huge Tulip poplar in bloom. I am sure that it is quite old as it was larger than our 40 yr old tree.
