Here's my take on Kevin Vaughn's garden. It's a small working garden full of seedlings and some named plants. It is in a lush green setting that you would expect of Oregon. He has many different kinds of plants and many different kinds of seedlings. The plantings around the house are very nice.

He's the one in the hat.

He had a few named bearded iris, some old, some newer.

He also has a number of named beardless iris.

Here are some shots of his seedling beds and garden.
He hybidizes most all of the irises.
He is well known in the Society for Louisiana Iris.

I love visiting gardens. Unfortunately there are not many within my traveling distance for me to visit. I really, really enjoy seeing your overall garden photos. He has some great irises. They look so happy, and they are beautiful.

Great photos Carl.
Kevin's gardens are very interesting, as there is a large variety of plants he is working on hybridizing. Many of the name varieties he has in his gardens are chosen specifically to use in hybridizing.

Kevin's and Keith's gardens are alike in that they are working gardens. They are very different in that Keith does iris and Kevin does almost anything with pollen (LOL).

A few photos from Bonneville Fish Hatchery. The gardens there were great as was Herman, the ten foot white sturgeon!
The first photo was taken by Carl's wife, Marilyn. No labels on the plants but Carl may know.

Mikey, interesting fish, and beautiful iris.

I got to see this iris by Kevin, for the first time. My camera didn't catch the true color. It was beautiful.

"Red Velvet Elvis' was on our club's door prize list last year. Actually I won it but someone else wanted it so badly that I gave it to her :). She was happy! Carl and Marilyn are the ones that order our beardless irises for the door prize drawing every year. They do a great job.

Thanks, Mary Ann. I was reading this weeks newsletter and saw that the thread was the most active. I'm surprised. It was a little slow starting.
Bonnie, we love Red Velvet Elvis. You gotta love the name if nothing else. It bloomed for us this year, but a little short. It really is velvety. You should see it in the rain. It looks like a wet cat.
Ramona, you have to watch yourself, saying nice things about me in print. People will be on to you.

I love seeing all of these photos! When you are not able to go to convention, it's the next best thing I guess.
I especially like the first pink seedling of Dee's and the one that was yellow with darker violet falls. Silken Trim is really a great color - the photo is better than in the catalog.
