Ya'll are so lucky with your swarms this year! Congratulations. I added two extra hives this year and they are still sitting empty waiting for some swarms to come by. Smiling @Toni did you do anything special to get the bees to move in? Some people use lemongrass essential oil to bait their hives.

We didnt get to cleaning the honey out of a hive that was killed by a late spring cold snap last spring and a swarm oved in on its own.
They are the most gentle bees we have ever had.
This swarm came from that hive and it is huge
So far it looks like they are going to stay.

Great busy bees Toni.

We had another swarm move into an empty hive sometime in the last few days.
This hive had empty frames no honey to attract them.
I'm wondering if the fact the hives are a few years old might make them more attractive to the swarms.

Whatever the reason they are choosing our hives we are happy about it.
This swarm is also fairly gentle in nature.

@Mindy03

Hurray! Hurray! That is what happened with me only my empty hive was only empty for a few months, didn’t have any wax or honey in it. Just the smell. I am so happy they chose that box. Now I just need to find some good bees for my empty top bar nodding
