If it would be a virus, would it look like that each year? It is also very healthy looking with no drooping leaves, and would the virus remain just within this plant?

How about a virus test to be sure? Anyone know of a cheap source for tests?

Lovely hostas everyone! Karen, I bet you just have a mutated hosta. I have had several change on me. Here is a picture of one example of a changed hosta and two others that were all once identical plants.
Thumb of 2015-06-21/Jewell/dd53ba The one in the far back is the changed hosta.

I've learned that trying to name NOID hostas is like trying to name NOID day lilies...just too many new varieties every year. I love them whether they have names or not, especially if the price is right. nodding Here are a few other hostas in my woodland area.

Although I have had several hostas change, the concerns about virus x made me take a second look at one of my minis, Pandora's Box. It was new last year and then got eaten to the ground by one big slug before I rescued it and moved it to a table top. I have had to keep all of my minis in pots because of six inch slugs.

Hopefully no one ever has to deal with this virus. Here is one of many articles out there on the web. http://www.inthecountrygardena... Earlier articles are often have information that has been proven incorrect.

Here is the most recent information from the American hosta society's website with information on getting testing kits. http://www.americanhostasociet...

Well I will guess at UK #3 as being 'Undulata Albomarginata', looks similar to many of mine, which all seem to be gradually losing the white margins.

Karen, love that 'whirlwind'. I think one of my potted noids might be from the same family. At least I hope, so it is very unusual. How big does it get?

Thanks, Jewell. That is one of my very favorites. It's about 16" tall and has a more upright form with a dense structure to the leaf. It does not multiply very fast at our house, but it would be in my top 10 list.

These two would also be on my favs list. Teaspoon is just one of those "cute" little Hostas that you like immediately. I loved the shape of the mound it made, the coloring, and it grew like a weed. Rainforest Sunrise has great shape and texture and you can spot that color for a mile.

Haven't been here for a couple of days, but Karen, I think your 'Blue Edger' is showing classic signs of Hosta Virus X with the "ink bleed" along the veins. I think a chat thread is good except that when we are chatty we are so chatty that I had to scroll a loooong way to comment on a post that was way up. So if it's general chat, it might work but when we get a lot of different issues in the same thread, it gets too long and too confusing to follow, especially if someone misses a day or two.

I was enjoying seeing the interest being paid to this forum for a change, nice photos and chat, guess the moral is not to miss any days. Of course I have nothing against separate threads either.

Here is another hosta that I would like to identify if possible. The first picture shows the whole plant, but the color isn't right. It is what I call dark forest green, and in the second picture you can see two leaves in the front that are the right color. I would say it's medium height.
