What a fabulous show, Jim. I'm definitely going to save up my pennies for an Epi/Enc. ciliare. Such elegant little flowers. Last time I saw one for sale they wanted $50 for it.

Ken, I saw a Gramm. scriptum at the Botanical Garden in Grand Cayman that had its own courtyard. They had built a slat basket for it out of teak, that looked just like a regular square slat basket, but it was 3ft. square.

Holy cow, Elaine. Now that's an orchid! My Gramm. scriptum is the var. Kiilani, and it is actually a sub-compact. More my size.

I have 23 various Grammatophyllums including the tiny Kiilani as well as two Grammatocymbidiums which can also become quite huge. I will show you the 20" basket I built for one of the latter. It's flower spikes like to drop down from a tree and are quite long so I built the stand for it a bit higher than those for the Grammies.

Well, the uploading process goes through the motions but nothing shows up. Sorry about that. Maybe if I try apicture without comments?

Sorry, I don't have an Orchid in bloom right now, so as a test here are some wildflowers.
No problem uploading from my IPad Air. Hmmmm.
I can only say, I restart the IPad if it gives me trouble like that - and Fred, perhaps is the file size too large?

Jim, wonderful show!! I love them all, but the Elephant is simply awesome!
Roberta, pretty blooms! Lovey dubby

Nope. It must have something to do with the picture. Let me investigate.

File size was 16.6 MB, this is now around 5MB

So. There is a definite size limitation. This is Cymbidium finlaysonianum x self in a 20" basket not Grammatocymbidium as I said yesterday.

Oh, is this ever gorgeous, Fred! Nice Cymbidium too, and I agree, those stands are really nice. I am glad you figured out that it was the file size.

Yes, I built those bases and baskets myself some out of old scrap moldings and things, others out of cedar cut down to size. The baskets themselves are all out if cedar. I'm busy now in the shade house installing pipes for hanging of plants that don't seem to be happy in the GH. I think it's too hot in there for them. Catts are fine but Oncids just don't look right with their leaves yellowing. I've tried lime and calcium but will now try hanging them outside in the fresh air under 60% aluminet shade. These are all Onc. Sharry Baby 'Red Fantasy'.

It's a natural jungle out here. I have 5 of these Guaricattonia Renate 'S & W' and they all seem to pop out at once. They previously bloomed in January and I guess will do that again.

Wow, that 'Black Flower' may not be black but it sure is a gorgeous color.

Renate is one of my favorites, too but mine is about a month behind yours, just putting up spikes now. It's a really faithful bloomer.
