Yes, thanks Becky for the link. That is the one that you posted earlier that I said I am getting my ideas from.
I realllyy want to buy some of hers. But, I find it hard to pay 30.00 to 60.00 plus freight, when I can make them for 10.00 or less.
But I really want this one, http://www.etsy.com/listing/77... ,so I may cave in. and I love this one of hers http://www.etsy.com/listing/77.... She is great at this.

And this is another lady I found. http://www.etsy.com/shop/aunti... but I surely can't afford these. Smiling

I am so happy that you found the link for me again.

You're welcome Debbie.

I like Mary's work best. The other person doesn't glue them but sends then with drilled holes, to fit over rebar. I wonder if this is what Mary does?

Do you have a Ross, TJ MAX or Marshalls? Those stores have inexpensive fun pieces often.

This is one project I have never done and I need to. You are all very inspiring!

I know exactly what you mean Debbie, on the prices of the totems. They are so pretty though. I love that bee teapot & cup. Something to look around for. But, I really would rather put my own together, gives you a sense of accomplishment.

Was at Wal-Mart's today looking for some white glass globs, none there. Also the price of E6000 went up by 50 cents. I bet they figured out what we are doing , so raise the price - they will still keep buying. Hilarious! I picked up 2 tubes and while I was looking at something else a lady asked me where I got the glue. Really a popular item. If I'm going into the totem business guess I'll need the glue. I only want to make some for myself & maybe a few friends.

Pegi, I think we should all invest in Krylon and E6000. It looks like their sales should be going up, thanks to us. Hilarious!

Becky, I love Mary's work. I really do think her prices are great. And her eye for color is awesome. But because they weigh so much the freight runs from 19.00 to 25.00 dollars or more each, no discount for multiple items. Too expensive for me. Mary glues hers and ships them all ready together and ready for the garden. ( I didn't realize the other lady ships them un assembled.)

Besides, my Goodwill store is loving me. Whistling I can just pick up a few pieces that work together and then spray paint for the saucers and then the fun begins. I love painting over my old stoneware with Krylon.
It's a great opportunity to use up all the odd glassware, bud vases, odd dishes and cups and saucers I have collected in my house over the years.
Now, once I get this flower painting down pat, I'll be doing good. Guess I need to pull out all of my Donna Dewberry videos and books again. And I need to replenish my folkart paints. I'm having trouble with them being too thick on the brushes, even when I use the medium. Either my paints or all of my brushes are too old. Geez, I'd hate to have to replace the brushes. I probably have about 30 of the green handled ones (Donna Dewberry's brushes). I noticed that you use Apple paints Becky. I bought some of those and they are thinner than the folkart. I like that , I think.

That last teapot totem you made is quite lovely, Debbie. Very festive.

Why would we buy any when we can make them so inexpensively? I know, I know, we love yard and garden art no matter who makes it. It's always fun to have something someone else made. At least that's the way I feel.

Our Lowe's is starting to put the summer merchandise on clearance and I just snagged this to use as my next totem topper. Now I have another idea for garden totems: sundials.

Debbie,
My favorite acrylic paints are Delta Ceram Coat. I use all kinds of paints though. Walmart sells the Apple so if I need something, and I'm there, I pick it up. They are thinner. Delta's are thicker but flow really well.

Tee, love the sun dial. I have one on my patio too. Can't wait to see what you do with it.

Oh, Debbie, are you spraying your old plates with Krylon for plastic or regular Krylon? Does it seem like it will adhere for a long time?

Yes, Mary sells beautiful things but making them your self is so much fun!

Mary totems are beautiful, but I have to say the ones that all you gals have done are far prettier than hers.

I love that sun dial, can't wait to see how you use it.

I must be really mad at Wal-Mart because I keep repeating myself. Hilarious!

Got to find my painters tape and get back to my BB. Either I put too much glue on or too little. Can't get much done sitting in front of the monitor, so better get moving. Forgot about Big Brother last night so I had to go to cbs and watch the video.

Debbie, you're on a roll. They're both really pretty. I'm amazed at how smooth the purple plate turned out. We used to have a Pfaltzgraff outlet store near where I work and that would have been a perfect place to pick stuff up. Unfortunately they closed about a year ago. Oh, I miss them so much. I love their dishes!

That, of course, is absolutely true. There is no denying it. We are not enablers ... we are merely facilitators. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Thanks for comments on the sundial. It is going to need some larger heavier pieces for its base. I have these two things that I got at my GW. I just sat them outside because they take up so much floor space. Anyway, the bottom piece is a huge glass lampshade and the piece sitting on it is a big pottery bowl. I might work from there for the sundial totem ... or go a different direction. Just thinking out loud.

I like that shade. Something coming straight up and fans out then the dial. Gotta have as least another foot or two of height. It would even be a cool birdbath or table.

Yes, it definitely has to have more height.

Can you tell how dry it is here? Ugh! Is it that dry in MO?

The last week and a half we've been having some scattered storms and some good rains finally. Close to 7 inches total I think, but the humidity afterwards if the sun comes out is a killer.

Becky, I used both, but mostly the Regular. I was thinking along that line as well. That is was possibly the base coat I used. But I was flower painting with the small bottles of paint, painting directly onto a factory glazed plate.
