When we were kids and played Cowboys and Indians I always played the horse. We had a red wagon and covered it with a towel or something to make a covered wagon. Loved Black Beauty, the Black Stallion, My Friend Flicka, Mr. Ed, and Roy Rogers' horse Trigger. The guys with the white hats were always the good guys and the guys who wore the black hats were always the bad guys. Happy memories.

I had horses growing up so I loved reading books about them. I also read most of the ones you have listed.

Oh, Where the Red Fern Grows Sad such a sad one.

I think the first of Farley's books I read was Son of the Black Stallion, then The Black Stallion, then The Black Stallion Mystery, and The Black Stallion Returns. I enjoyed Kjelgaard's books too, Big Red, White Fang etc. I never liked Sci Fi for some reason. Leaned more toward Historical Fiction once I progressed beyond the animal stories. Now I don't seem to read many Novels, I read more professional materials, like "Brain Rules" by John Medina. Although I did enjoy Margaret Wheatley's "Turning to one another" that I read for a book club a while back.

I prefer non fiction, although I do read some fictions especially when reading books on a search for Christmas presents.

I had a photo of Roy Rogers & Trigger posted on my closet door. Kept the monsters in the closet where they belonged instead of coming out at night. They might have got past Roy, but not past Trigger.

I've got a stalk, I've got a Stalk, I'VE GOT A STALK!!!!! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Jennifer Rebecca has a bloom stalk that I noticed this morning when I was watering. She has tried many times to re-bloom, but always got frozen out. This year, it's early enough I'm thinking she will make it, unless we have a very early frost. So for right now, this is my most anticipated bloom! Smiling Smiling

It would be very unusual for us to get a frost in Aug. but stranger things have happened. I have been noticing lots of activity with geese flying about.

All these book titles sure bring back memories of hiding out in the school library instead of being in class. Whistling

A stalk now would be heavenly right now! Hurray!

Congratulations. Jennifer Rebecca is not known for being a nice rebloom, a bit cranky I am told.

Oh my gosh, what memories of The Black Stallion and all of the sequels. Haven't thought of them in years. I did not read Tolkien until the movies came out. For once I was glad to have done it in that order because the books really vibrated with the addition of the visuals from the movies!

Of the two plants I purchased from local nurseries, I am so looking forward to 'Florentine Silk'.

Of the multitude of iris I received in generous trades for postage this year, Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! I finally narrowed it down to five, then three, then one. I'll probably change my mind tomorrow, but here's 'Around We Go'

I am excited about Florentine Silk also. Thanks to Tom for those. I don't think I had seen Around We Go before. It is lovely.
