I'm relieved to say the least.

I "think" I can see the very beginnings of sprouting of the poppy seeds that I winter sowed -- maybe I just put my glasses on and go look (or else just wait a few days until they're a little bigger...)

I will confess at desperation to see anything growing and take a flashlight and my mag.reader to look.
Its a guilty pleasure.

Cant wait for June

Okay, my poppies are now definitely sprouting and are about at the same stage as Jo Ann's photo from March 23rd -- other than a few of my "wild lupines" they are the only things up so far. I think I'll try transplanting some to my perennial bed with some milk jug protection, and some to some larger pots to see how that works -- I definitely have plenty to experiment with! (Karen, you were so right about them being the first thing to sprout for me)

Keep an eye on jug protected transplants. If the temps get too high the plants will cook.

That's very cool, Sandy! And poppies are hardy annuals, very cold hardy, not likely to be injured by cold temps.

My clumps of seedlings are growing despite the snow.
Not to mention I have seen random plants in areas where I didnt think "Nice Red" had seeded.
There are 2 plants in the garden plath slab cracks. Wahhhhh hoooo
