Hello! hello! This little Froggie lives in Coastal Mississippi! Born and raised here and like John Cougar sang, "Probably where they'll bury me, too!"

My yard is a mess right now. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2013 and it has hit me pretty hard. All my beds are overgrown and I have many low, wet spots in my yard. But my teenage boys are helping me clean some things this weekend. They are so good to me!

Now my house is filled with plants! I had a sunroom added in 2014, and I love it! It's a great place for my collection of orchids, plumeria, Christmas cactus, and many others that are overwintering in there. My kitchen windows are filled with more Christmas cactus, a collection of Lady Slipper orchids, and hanging baskets of staghorn fern, spider plant, pothos, and philodendrons. Two beautiful bromeliads that I got from @drdawg grace my kitchen, too!

I am in the process of starting many kinds of hibiscus seeds, daylily seeds, and others on shelves in my sunroom.

I also love to quilt and have four quilt tops ready for sewing. My older sewing machine just freaked out on me, so I am waiting for my new machine to come in the mail. I love antiques! My house is filled with them!

My greatest achievement is raising 5 children! My oldest daughter is a stay-at-home Mom with a 2-year-old and 1-year-old twins. My oldest son is in the Army and has two boys. My youngest daughter is in her second semester of college. My middle son will graduate this year and attend Mississippi State University in the fall. My youngest son is a sophomore in high school and plays football. I'm so proud of all of them!

Life hasn't always been kind to me, but my motto is "I'm going to keep going until I can't go anymore!"

Greetings. I am new to this site and forum. I love house plants. I have about 2000 over wintering in my house right now. 98% of them get a vacation outside for the summer. Lots of succulents. Example: I have 109 species of Sansevieria. I do not have many "common" plants. Mostly rare and unusual - makes it more interesting and a challenge. Visitors are always welcome. Most go home with some free plants. I'm near Portage, WI. Gene

@gasrocks. I looks like you not only have a wealth of plants but also a wealth of information about what you love and grow. You should be a valuable asset to ATP. I hope you will begin to post, and continue to do so frequently.

I have been a member for over 3 years--but never really posted. Now that so many
"friends" from DG are over here--it is starting to feel like a family again.

I am in accord, @gitagal. Unlike DG, with all the bickering and back-stabbing, ATP is a breath of fresh air. It does feel like "family". Though this was a old tread, you might like to see what my reasoning was when I left DG a year ago. This was on the "Sandbox" forum and thread "Adios, Dave's Garden".

Well, I guess I have a little bit of everything.

I currently have an African Violet, a Chinese Evergreen, an Aloe Vera, a ZZ Plant, and a Spider Plant (the species of Spider plant that doesn't produce baby plants).

I just picked up a little NOID Kalanchoe today as well.

I don't have a very green thumb, so I grow whatever can put up with my abuse, haha.

You are in the same boat most of us are in, @macncheese. We grow what does relatively well and kill the rest. Are you able to get your plants outside during any of the spring and summer months?

Sadly, no. We're currently renting and I don't really trust our neighbors (the guy right across the way from us, for example, smokes and his cigarette butts end up everywhere). But one day soon enough, my houseplants will be able to go outside on summer vacation and enjoy the nice and humid Georgia weather we have.

I understand. Smoke is not healthful for humans or plants. Better to be safe than sorry. I guess you saw I am in Starkville.

I did! Is the weather starting to warm up where you are? After the crazy wind we had last week, it was warm enough today to open a window.

We have had almost a week of mild weather but it is raining now. There is another cold front coming through, so we'll be back into the mid 30's into the weekend. Then it turns warm again.

I haven't bothered to check the forecast, but knowing our weather, it'll probably be in the 30s here again soon before it decides to stays warm. 80 one day, 35 the next.

Do you have room to build a greenhouse? With your love for plants, that's what you truly need. A greenhouse will open up another level for growing tropical plants. Ask me how I know.

Yep, you are a neighbor. It looks like spring has finally arrived, at least from what I can see in the 10 day forecast.

hey! im pretty sure im the only 17 year old on this website lol but anyway i live in California and i'm a houseplant enthusiast & an aspiring botanist. I have over 50 houseplants in my room and the only person in my family with a green thumb.Always open to advice
