Ok off to bed but I'll add a few photos first.
The lilies are 3 bulbs in a pot, I bought them this spring, they are wonderful and have a great fragrance! All my bulbs will be going into the ground eventually.

This shot is when Brad starting putting in the railroad ties along the edge of the lawn last week. What a mess.
The railroad ties are now completed and we just need to raise the level and reseed the lawn. Brad finished a rock retaining wall along one edge, adding several clay pipes we found at a salvage yard. They will be planted with spillers like succulents that can handle the sun heated pipes.

The wine barrels in the middle of the veggie beds contain one rhubarb and the squash. Love their large leaves!
As you can see, I planted the veggies way too close. Next year I'll know better!

Wow, everything looks fantastic! And I love it that everything looks like Brad made it himself -- like the pergola, for instance. Your yards/gardens are going to be unbelievable!

How did I ever live without Ambridge Rose? This must be its fourth or fifth flush of blooms this year, and this is just one corner of the bush.

If I ever have to scale down and move into a place with a small garden, I'll grow nothing but David Austin and Kordes Fairy Tale roses.

Oh, I do love the little frogs! My climate is very different from yours and the David Austins that I have are among the most reliable beauties for me too.

Fawoggie!! Oh how adorable! I was hoping to attract a frog or two w/my pond area, but no such luck. Maybe I will have to import a couple?

My August flowers are in full swing...Hydrangea, Hibiscus and Tall Phlox which the butterlies love! My battery croaked will I was taking pics today so will post more pics later. Oh! I also have a resident garter snake this year in one of my flower beds.
They're harmless and eat mostly small frogs and earthwoms.
I have a ton of baby tree frogs this year so its easy pickin's.

Well there are certainly snakes in all the states.
I think you have venomous rattle snakes out there don't you?
We don't have alot of snakes and Garter snakes are harmless
but I know some people have an aversion toward snakes.
They don't bother me.

None at all -- in the foothill area on the outskirts they get rattlesnakes and I think king snakes, but all we get around here are -- rats! We don't even have squirrels in our area. And since I once had a pet rat I can't hate them like I do the slithery ones, although luckily I have several cats who keep the local rat population thinned out. The house behind us has been vacant for a while, so I think that might be a source, and I can sure tell when there's one around because the cats don't want to come in and just sit there and stare at one particular area -- so I clear out and won't come back until it's over!

I would love to have more snakes in my garden. The ones we have here are completely harmless, except to gophers, so they're highly desirable.

Your autumn flowers look super, CR!

I had several big clumps of tall Alstroemeria on my property and when I got tired of having them obscure so many of my other plants, I dug them up this year. Between one of the clumps and a fence, I found this rose. I haven't seen it in years and the maps of that flower bed show a succession of roses that kept being killed by gophers. I had Cherish there at first, and then Altissimo, and then I stopped keeping track, so I don't know the name of this one.

Would anyone care to take a guess at what this rose might be? It's about 4 or 5 feet tall and appears to be a hybrid tea, even though the blooms are not the classic high-centered shape of the hybrid tea bloom. It has been in my garden for 10-15 years, I think.

Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, "In this world, Elwood, you must be" - she always called me Elwood - "In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant." Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. You may quote me.

I have no idea, Sue. I meant to go smell it today, but got waylaid by other things. I planted eight roses -- five from Cliff, three from Northland.

That makes a grand total of 102 roses from Cliff. I ordered three from the P-S hybrid tea update, but all three were gone by the time I ordered (just one hour after I received the update). I think there will be only one more update, and I've looked up all of his hybrid teas from T to Z and didn't see anything I want, so 102 might be it.

In the meantime, it's begonia season. Hooray! The light was bad for the begonias (in the shade) when I went out with my camera today, but these three turned out okay.
