I'm okay Becky. It takes a couple of days. Once they were just an annoyance but I am starting to react to them as I age.

I really hate ticks. Not as much of a problem now since fire ants have moved in.

Sorry Glen you have had tick problems. They are always worst here in the cooler months as they like the moisture. When it's hot and dry they hide under mulch or at the base of long grass. I used to get them lots and think I got some bug from them. Yesterday I worked for hours in an overgrown area here and was surprised I didn't get a tick.

Good they are doing a lot of research here in Aus about pathogens carried by Aus ticks. When you first think you have one it is good to dab the area with a cotton bud onto wh u spray insect killer. Like spiders ticks r pretty susceptible to it. So if they are hard to get out at least they are dead and soon dry out. I used to dig holes in the back of the neck when I couldn't see if it was a tick. That was not good as often it was a small spider bite.

I check my cat every day and there are often small ones. He likes being outside lots and used to wander away from the house a bit. But he has been attacked by another cat (on my property) so he is a bit closer now. He was a very shy cat until I became his pet person.

Becky. I think my immune system is heaps better than when I was young. The neighbour's dog punctured my hand last week and it did not get infected. It is still bruised and I am careful not to disrupt the scab. It bled a lot so probably many germs washed out. I then stuck a cotton swab loaded with betadine into the wounds. I couldn't do much for a few days. Even carving chicken was impossible. Lucky it wasn't my right hand. Today they had the electronic fence people around so hopefully the dog and her 2 pups will not keep getting out.

Glen I hope you don't have much down time as there will be a SPACECOAST BLOOD DIAMOND in your parcel. I thought the MAGNIFICENT HUMMINGBIRD was 2 separate fans so hope rot doesn't get in where I pulled them apart. They look OK in their pots but I will go easy on the watering.

Valerie, it is the Australian Paralysis Tick, Ixodes holocyclus.

Ack! You be careful Glen! Ticks from deer (here in the USA) cause Lime Disease which is a horrible disease that you have to live with for the rest of your life.

I reckon spray household insect killer lightly onto the bottom of long pants and socks. If they crawl onto to them, they will pick up a dose of spray and maybe die or fall off. Have to keep it away from cats as it is toxic to them.

Unfortunately allergic sensitivity can increase, so good to not get them.

Season 2016-2017 has started in the Southern Hemisphere. I will incorporate the link here when the new one is done.

And here it is especially for you!
