This is another tall lily this year.My tallest were 3 year old lilies.
Shocking about 79 inches.

more,tethered ,from about 4 tall points itn the least wind affected part of the back yard,.the stem was about 1 and 1/2 inches,around..,i 'made' people come and look at it so i had witnesses

Trees is a nice term but hardly can measure up to anything taller than your Silk Road.
As we all know growing conditiond,sun,water,weather the year before, have a big influence on how tall lilies get.
My favorite vendors dont referr to their lilies as trees.

I'm saving the chainsaw for the 10 foot Cosmose which has reached 75 inches

I am not sur about making 10 feet. It is officially too tall for me to measure and photo,ie the tilting tape.

Someone on the yahoo lilium group had a Lilium superbum that was 12 ft, but of course not nearly as many flowers as silk Road. This is why I resisted growing that species, preferring the smaller, almost identical Lilium michiganense. I resisted until Joe Nemmer offered me some seed from his gorgeous stands. So now I have some plantlets from 2008 seed.
