Good Morning Everyone
This year I had 1200 new seedlings to select from, I selected 20 to watch another year. In 2013 I had 2400 new seedlings I selected 36, from those 36 I registered 6 this year. !n 2014 I did not have any new seedling to select from because I planted none due to health issues. I do keep seedlings two years and I may select a couple as two year olds, they may have not bloomed the first year. My seedling to registration ratio has gotten somewhat better over the years, I use to plant 7 to 8,000 per year and got about the same amount of keepers I am getting with way less seedlings today. Just like anything else, experience is the best teacher.
Thanks for the information Fred. I understand from making crosses and growing seedlings since 2009 that when it comes to making selections for registering, I don't find it very difficult to be really selective. I have watched the best seedlings for 3 years now and while they keep improving, I am not on such a feeding program as you so my increase is a little slow. I need to learn to get the best plants to a new bed and give them special care. I have about a dozen fans at 3 years. My growing season is shorter and the weather here can be about as tough on plants as anywhere in the country. It was really wet with above average rainfall until July. Since then it has been really hot and dry, but still a good growing year for us. Better than average anyhow. You have really nice looking introductions.

Stan my wife ask me the same question every day, (where's your mind, or what were you thinking) of course I have no answer, just hang my head in shame.
Terry I think I live in the perfect place to grow daylilies, we have a twelve month growing season, but the weeds also grow all year. I do use things to help keep the weeds under control, but still have to pull weeds all year.
