I thought it might be fun, if in addition to what Anthony is bringing in to our forum of live lilies from Australia, we had a lily of the day. Anyone can post their favorites from summer. One lily per person per day here. We can all enjoy them. We need some color with all this white stuff. Help me out by posting your favorites, one a day. I love the suspense.

I'll start with 'Ocean Breeze'. I loved it. It was even better in person than in pictures. It's an asiatic and I think mine came from B & D Lilies.

One week later...

First pic is closer to actual color. Deep rich raspberry, heavy long lasting bloomer.

I think this one is 'Chippendale' and I believe it was purchased from the Lily Garden, but it might be a North lily too. For some reason it is not labeled in my photo. It's my favorite of the day, no matter who it is. The outfacing and downfacing asiatics have clearly won my heart.


Upon closer inspection to the background and the lily in the background as well as what trees are in the view, it is 'Napa Valley' from Johan Mak.

I've spent so much time concentrating on pictures of my irises, but next year I will take pics of my lilies, so I can play too.

Barbara, your temps makes me think I have nothing to complain about at all. I woke up to minus 1 F yesterday and I thought I was going to freeze. The only thing nice about this time of year is you get to cross country ski, if the temperature permits. Oh yeah, and then there's basketball season. without those two things I would be sunk.

One more thing to add to the pick me ups are the new lily catalogs arriving in my mailbox.

I am new to lilies, got some a couple of years back from a DG co-op. This was my absolute favorite, Salmon Star. I had it in a pot right by my back glass door so I can admire it all day.

'Salmon Star' is one of the nicest, most unique of the orientals. Thanks for bringing it over here. You don't see that color in many lilies, if any.

I have been lusting over Chippendale and Satin Slippers for three years. Have not found a vendor for either. Your Chippendale is gorgeous. Suncrest is interesting, too. Salmon Star is always a Top Ten.
