I went to the GW again this morning (senior discount day - 20% off instead of the usual 10%).

I have been wanting a ceramic garden stool for a long time, but most run about $85 to well over $100 and up on Amazon. Saw one somewhere for a mere $36. I found one today at the GW for $10.50 ... ka-ching. It really looks prettier than the picture -- has a nice drip glaze.

The sweet gal at the checkout counter there gave me the Smart Card discount too so total discount was 28%. I have no idea what the "window" piece was supposed to be. But it has enough hand-painted garden-y looking stuff on it and cute kitty in the window that I thought $3 was an okay price. I'll put it under the carport or somewhere else if I decide to seal it.

It swivels and this is what the back looks like. It has a hole at the top and had a dowel perch to look like a giant birdhouse or something ... but it obviously isn't. Just decorative shelf, I guess? Not sure of the purpose of the swivel base. Still, I couldn't make it myself for $3.

Large pottery bowl was $3. It really is slightly more green in color than the picture shows and the dark is a dark chocolate brown. I luv pottery! Lovey dubby

Love your "finds" The stool is a great one! Of course my eyes zeroed in on the saucers...
My group has been known to make bird baths out of bowls...
The last time I went to GW in my town they were very low on stuff. Then found out one of my partners had been in there in the am. She said it wasn't much so I guess we are not getting stuff in very fast..We're thinking of heading S closer to Louisville...

Does anyone recognize this type of decorated stoneware pottery (pitcher)? I don't believe it's Bybee because their mark is usually fairly clearly painted on the bottom. It has a name scratched into it but I can't make it out. Can only make out the date: '86 (1986, I think).

Ask Sharon if it is Louisville Pottery? I don't know enough about all their designs...

It for sure isn't Bybee, they only use solid glazes and speckled sometimes. It looks more like Louisville Pottery, I think.

This is Louisville Stoneware, notice the little blue outline on the flowers. Also their stamp is on the back, but not very clear. It says Louisville Stoneware. Bybee has BB pressed into the clay, it isn't stamped or painted on. I'll get a picture of it if you need it.

Well shoot! Pictures won't upload.
I'll see if I can try again in a minute.

When L'ville Stoneware did flowers, they usually outlined as it is done on my piece. Also their insignia is stamped but not pressed. So I'm no help, but I don't think it's LS.

Thanks for the marks info, Sharon. I am thinking that this little pitcher may be German. There is a large German population here due to the presence of Ft. Campbell.

Tee, as you can see, I moved your posts to a new thread. Now we can all share our great deals at thrift stores, garage sales and flea markets....even bulk trash! Whistling

I love the stool....that bowl is terrific. I ADORE your rug....(red's my color!) and I think the birdhouse is to hide things in and that's why it swivels, But maybe it is a doll house...how tall is it?

You scored!!! Hurray!

I think you're right, Bubbles. I have one like that, not on a swivel, though.

Song, would that little pitcher be Pennsylvania Dutch? Was there a company who did that style?

I love the pitcher, Tee and at first reminded me of an older pfaltzgraff but then I looked here and realized probably not.

I have Pfaltzgraff Yorktowne and it is similar, but not. And if Pfaltzgraff, the pitcher would have that same glaze interior, too. I don't know what it is. I'm too tired to climb up in my cabinet tonight, but seems that PG also has a stamp on the bottom.

How's that beautiful baby boy, Becky?

Tee, I want to come to Tennessee!!!! Your GW finds are awesome! Hurray! I've found a few things I can use but I never find anything as good as yours! I'll have to take some photos of my finds to add. I was just checking the Habit for Humanity ReStore site and remembered the 15th of the month it's a 15% discount. Marking my calendar now, 10 more days!!! Big Grin
