I just posted a link for Habitat for Humanity ReStores in the Sources thread The thread "Sources, Sales & Supplies for Garden Art" in Garden Art forum I just found out about these stores last spring and was amazed, not only with their inventory but their prices! I picked up the $2.00 window that I'm going to try my first attempt with faux stained glass and they had an incredible selection of the glass globes (old light fixtures). I had an idea this week and I think I need to go back and check for door knobs! Rolling my eyes.

Thanks for the new "finds" forum, Becky. I enjoy seeing people's thrift store and other finds. Also like seeing what they did with them ... before and after pics. Big Grin Seeing people's finds often gives me ideas too.

Yes, Louisville Pottery is the one with the ink mark on the bottom. I thought Bybee also had one like that at some point in time but maybe all their marks are scratched into the pieces. The little pitcher could be PA Dutch. The scratch mark or name is just not clear. It isn't the work of a novice, that's for sure. It's probably definitely a company or cottage industry piece.

Hey, yes, the ReStores have great deals!! I hadn't thought about that for the other thread for supplies, Debbie. Thanks for the reminder. I need to go by there again soon to see what they have. I like to buy tile for various projects. In fact, I need some now. Whistling

rcn48 said:Tee, I want to come to Tennessee!!!! Your GW finds are awesome! Hurray! I've found a few things I can use but I never find anything as good as yours! I'll have to take some photos of my finds to add. I was just checking the Habit for Humanity ReStore site and remembered the 15th of the month it's a 15% discount. Marking my calendar now, 10 more days!!! Big Grin

Big Grin LOL, Debbie. The thrift stores here are good but the Sally's (Salvation Army thrift stores) in CA that I used to frequent were the absolute best. They had some wonderful furniture and now that I'm looking for a vintage Heywood-Wakefield table for the dining room in this '60's house, I can't find one (reasonably priced). Waaaa. I'm so spoiled. ;-)

I will say, though, that out West at those Sally's I once found a vintage baby doll that I bought for $10. Sold it on an on-line auction for $269. Found several other things like that. However, now the big thrift "companies" have wised up and pull those types of items for their own on-line sites' sales and auctions. Oh well, they do a lot of good for people so I really can't complain.

This thrift store find was/is going to be mosaiced or partially covered with mosaics if I can ever find the time. If I cover it entirely, it can be used outside as a planter too. Sticking tongue out

So it could be for dolls but it makes me wonder if it's deep enough to add furniture. Maybe it's a Nancy Drew house...for mysteries!

Doll furniture is very tiny. It could also be shelves for miniature collections. I have tons of collectible thimbles around here somewhere. Tiny crystal elephants. Tiny anything would work.

Fun find at a local thrift store $4.50. This is a very large plastic jar...the knobs alone are $1.00 to $2.00 each and there were several in the jar.

One that comes to mind is to put them around the top of a wooden planter box and paint each one according to the color scheme you choose or in as many different colors as you'd like. Or just let them weather naturally.

And I am sort of goofy so taking an old board or weathered piece of wood and simply screwing as many as you want on it in either a random pattern or perhaps to make a word like "Garden", "Joy", "Welcome" or whatever. They would look best painted if making words, I think, but could be decorated in a number of ways. Street number sign comes to mind too. It could be painted (or not) and embellished a lot of ways (or not). I luv things that have dimension.

I have a bunch of old metal outdoor faucet knobs that are various colors that I wanted to simply mount on a wood fence so they spin and then paint stems to make them look like flowers. However, I no longer have the wood fence so I am now waiting to find the "perfect" piece of old board to mount the knobs on. I can't find the picture. I really should organize my photos.

If someone has a shed, those wooden doorknobs could be used on it somewhere outside (or inside) to use like peg hooks for small items ... or onto a board that is then mounted on the shed.

Well, came across this picture while searching. Same things could be done with these only on a larger scale. Big Grin

I like to buy boxes and jars of old hardware and knobs and misc. "stuff" too at sales and auctions. I was trying to salvage our front door which is original to the house. It is the old thin Luan Mahogany and has had it's share of bungs and dings over the course of 45 years. There were several large "dents" that were very visible after the door was re-painted. I decided it needed some door "band aids" on it to simply cover the holes and dents. They are the backs of old brass drawer pulls that I separated from the ring pull part and glued over the holes and dents. LOL.
