I plan on hitting a few thrift stores soon to see if I can find a few more glass shades to copy Becky's friends idea. They will make great covers for little tea lights or (fragrant) votive candles lining the driveway during the holidays!

Big Grin I agree The odd thing is I already had a few of these in the workshop. I was planning to use them as molds for mushroom caps but now I'm not so sure I want to smash them! Blinking

OHHHH, mushrooms...............Someone Please tell us how to make garden decor mushrooms. (ON ANOTHER THREAD) I love them. By the time I get all of this garden art into my flower beds, I won't have any place for my plants. Rolling on the floor laughing But won't it be nice to have color in the garden this winter when it is usually so bleek.

Ok, back to the shades. All shades are open, so what happens to the tea lights when it rains? Just wondering.................

Exactly my dilemma! Grumbling I know if I used the little LED tea lights they would work but you'd still have to 'cover' them? It will be awhile before I can put something together but you can be sure if I figure it out I'll be sharing! Whistling

My friend used a tea light that last a long time. Maybe Princess House?

I'm wondering if votives would work since they last longer.

Outside LED lights (like you can buy to put in pumpkins at Halloween) still work in the rain and the snow.

Go read her article again. Bet you could build all those things with QuikWall! An arbor, a gazebo, well, maybe not a greenhouse.

Here's what I did this morning. $3 for solar light, $.80 for shade, hanger-free. Got 2 made the other is hanging on the otherside of these steps. Gonna have to make more.

I got them at WM. You pull off the stake part and pull the tab to get them started and then put the stake back on and put in the ground. I left the stake off and put it in the shade, no glue, the bottom sticks down about a half inch from the bottom of the glass. This is what they look like before I pulled stake off.

Rolling on the floor laughing If we keep this up , we will all have pieces of our homes outside.

Great project Robin. And don't throw the stake away. Surely it can be turned into something else too. Smiling
