I'm interested, but it's a puppy year for me...not at all sure how that would work out. I have visions of seed trays, packets, lists, labels and whatnot scattered on a daily basis. Rolling on the floor laughing

I do have a decent desk setup now, though, so maybe...

Only that I have a new pup now, and would likely run into trouble if I used the system I normally do in putting together my seed swap stuff. Whistling It was just an easy chair and a low table, surrounded by boxes and paper sacks of cleaned and packaged seeds, and also some with un-threshed seeds...see? I'd need a new cleaning/packaging system this year to keep things safe from puppy.

Yes sir, I am not that dense. As I read the posts looking for the rules, the many suggestions, reading the jokes, I have decided that I will be quite happy to sit this one out. Again I say, good luck with your swap. Thumbs up

Chelle, I know wacha mean about a new puppy. With our first frost alert for tonight, I just came in from a last round of collecting seeds, and although they are safe from our eternally kitten-ish Sunny, the dishes and I have no idea where they go from here.

Greene, you will be missed.

Edited to say to Chelle - I use those stackable storage containers about 15"x30"x8" for seeds, and seed cleaning/packaging supplies have their own container. If I have to walk away from working on seeds, everything vulnerable to 52-pickup goes into that container.

Greene, ideally you'll find a way to participate. There will be more than just one trade. In fact, I'm designing the system to accommodate multiple trading sessions from multiple different hosts, and some can even occur simultaneously. This is going to be a large feature open to all. Each host will set their own conditions on policies of how they want to do their specific trade exchange.

So there might be 13 ATP Seed Swaps - each with its own set or rules and regs?
I doan think my poor little feeble mind can deal with that.
Trying to figure out where things stand with what I thought was just one system discussed above has me baffled.
I too will likely pass this time around.
Good luck.

David why wouldn't you just join the trade you would be comfortable with if there were multiples? I like the idea of possibly having different trades, especially if they are for specific things, like vines, annuals, veggies and such.

Thanks for the vote of confidence @dave. I had said I was on hold waiting to find out what the rules were. For a minute there were more jokes than rules so I begged off. Guess I will put myself into a holding pattern over the runway; back to wait-and-see mode again. Sighing!

David, right now it's just one seed swap. Since some people have expressed interest in doing a seed swap of their own in the future using their own methods, this makes it fair for everyone to be able to do things the way they want. (Kind of the same mentality as how different people do different types of trades in the Plant and Seed trade forums already.)

If you didn't want to participate from the get-go, that's one thing. But please don't be discouraged by Dave's comment. No one has even seen the seed exchange yet, so I hope you'll reserve judgment for when it's presented. Smiling

OK. Like Greene - I too will withhold final judgement.
Different trades is one thing - several different systems quite another.
I participated long ago on Gardenweb and others. I bowed out of those too complicated for me to understand. I am not a new kid on the block :-)

In the meantime - I await seeing what is proposed.
Thanks BTW for all the efforts being expended.

What a cool design! One tool, able to support different trading policies. Let people create simple or complicated, large or small swaps. That possibility hadn't even occurred to me.

DogsNDaylilies -- and anyone else who may decide to try organizing a swap -- please don't be discouraged if the turnout the first time around is less than what you would have hoped. I'm waiting to see how things shake out before making a decision about participating, but I can totally relate to anyone that just wants to see how it goes for the first year before getting involved. I'm definitely looking forward to watching the progress of this idea -- and I think anyone willing to take on the task of organizing a swap deserves a big Thumbs up

I'm interested in a swap but it seems like all the rules and having one person organize masses of seeds is way too complicated. On the daylily Trademart you register with the central person and then list what you have and what you want. When trading opens you negotiate your trades with the folks who have what you want and mail directly to them

I've got my head covered in case you who have been trading for years hate this idea but it seems so much easier.........................
