We have mainly grown the 'Quarterbred' arils. I only have a photo of my seedling 'Ye Gadd'.

I really love arils. I've only tried one, Mohr Pretender, that I planted last year. Didn't bloom or even grow much at first, but now its a little clump, so fingers crossed. We had a very wet summer last year, so I'm sure it didn't like that much. I like that Mid America notes those that are easy to grow- I think some others do to.

Neal, if you decide later you want to try additional Arilbreds, I have Navajo Velvet and Sand Dancer. This year's increases are promised, but as fast as they are pushing them up, I should have plenty for next year if you like either or both.

Oh Debra, I would love to give Sand Dancer a try. Whistling Is it a 1/2 Aril? I think it is so beautiful, a cab or mine actually, but worry if it would grow here.

Thanks Deb! I'm particularly interested in Navajo Velvet- I've been kind of obsessed with that image since Arlyn posted something about it a couple of weeks ago. Those beards and velvety falls captivate me. Oh, I see what you're doing...you're making it impossible for me to avoid creating that bed of browns and muted earthy tones! ...and giving me a good amount of time to do it Thumbs up

Paul Black named an SDB 'Yippee Skippy' some years ago. People thinking about things is why it is so difficult to find new names for plants.
