For those of you growing from seed here is a shot of seedlings from seed sown 6 months ago. Note only one plant in this group has now just begun to show a hint of color.

Found a pile of these by the side of the road (leaves now set aside for lei making, stems clipped and in water to root Smiling ). @ScotTi would you know the cultivar? The leaves are a medium size, predominantly green with bright red petioles. Some red in the new leaves too. The closest I could find was Hilo Rainbow?

The leaf look reminds me more of 'Maria' (3 pic) more than 'Hilo Rainbow'. 'Maria' is a color changer with the seasons and light levels.

There seems to be more red in 'Maria' but of course, as you say, that could have been due to the light levels where they were growing. Since this was a curbside find I can't vouch for that!
Thanks!!

I got about 9 canes out of it (now in a jar to water-root) and a bunch of nice leaves! Put a smile on my face for sure. Smiling

'Green Star' is a very nice green and white Ti. A bit of a slow grower, but well worth it.

Scott, the Green Star is striking and the Hawaiian Flag is amazing. I used to have that one but it never looked as beautiful as yours.

Oh Hetty, I forgot to mention that your lei looks lovely. You sell them, don't you? I wish I lived close enough to attend one of your classes. I hope it goes well.
