Neal: The new thoughts building on garden beds is a problem for gardeners who design.
It cant be helped, I have to force myself to stay out of the garden and just deal with what i there.

I probably should have mentioned,"not all my present plans are etched in stone" Some planter combos might be changed depending on the new catalogues that come out soon. That would be RoseyDawn. I always see a new plant that takes me back to the drawing board ,so to speak.

I also have started a Wishlist for Heucheras that are sun tolerant

So true JoAnn, there are always new inspirations, new plants, fresh ideas that I want to experiment with. I've had a good time extensively editing the design the last couple of years, now I can clearly see some logical "next steps".

It never ends, and I'm so glad it doesn't! It keeps gardening from ever becoming stale or boring, there's always worlds of new information, plants, and ideas right around every corner. I was telling a friend about the design I'm working toward and she asked when I thought I'd have it done. I said "I don't think it ever will be...and I don't think I want to to be"
"...and don't think the garden loses its ecstasy in winter. It's quiet, but the roots are down there riotous." Rumi

Clint, sorry to hear you are having thyroid problems. I hope they get your meds figured out soon.
I agree that it is hard to wait until you can order for spring planting. I was just surfing the net today to find some things, even though I swore I wouldn't keep planting more. Yes, of course, I need annuals for pots, but noooooo...that isn't what I was looking at.

Considering all the dahlias I dug last week, for 23.5 hours, a sane person probably wouldn't be looking to add to the issue but there I was today selecting some I've never grown. Sane people just don't have the fun that we gardeners do!

Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing You are right. Plus it helps me not do something I would be sorry for later. When I get really upset about something I weed the gardens. My family knew when I had a bad day at work because I would jump out of the car and start weeding the garden in my work cloths.

Imagine a woman digging in the dirt in a business suit. One of the reasons I had a lot of pants suits. Hilarious! It was easier to work in the garden when I was pissed off. When I felt better I would go inside and be so happy. Did not bring any bad vibes inside my house. My dry cleaning bill was pretty big though.

I think gardening is the best mental health therapy there is. Weeding gets all that tension and frustration out like nothing else. Pruning is really good also, but I sometimes lop off a little too much if I really had a bad day *Blush* Gotta be careful with that.
For these reasons, I will make the claim that gardeners may seem crazy to non-gardeners, but we are perhaps more sane than most.
Of course there is always the theory that the crazy person is the last to know....

I agree

I have picked up bulbs on sale last week marked down 75% off. This final purchase is for my winter bulb forcing project and to be planted in the patio pots for this Spring. I should have a big display of flowers indoors in every room. Hilarious! The ones for the patio will be my color for early Spring on the Patio until the Summer plants get started.

My Spring plan for the patio is Pink, Apricot and yellows.

Purchased
100 Lebanon Squill they are a light blue and tiny so they will be in all the pots as a ground/pot cover.
- 100 Tulip Emperor - Pink blooms
- 50 Tulip Apricot
- 500 Mixed Daffodils.
-25 Daffodil Golden Ducat

Today I ordered dahlias that I didn't need but wanted them anyhow. It worked wonders for my spirits.

I recommend River's Dahlias to anyone who just wants to take a look:

Cinta, I use PICASA It's free download from Google.
I try to use plant images from real gardens .I am so often off-base when a website's image isnt the true color.
