@bluegrassmom , re: TUSK: I too fell in love with TUSK after seeing it at Water Mill Garden the year it was new. The blooms were HUGE in Florida and I had to have it. Came home and ordered it. Sigh. It has survived here since 2009, but has not thrived. It has not liked it when we have cold winters especially. Usually has about 9 or 10 blooms for the entire season, and that's if I'm lucky. Very low bud count here. < big sigh> So I just sold my clump last week ( it's about 4 or 5 fans, BUT that is all it has increased since it arrived here in 2009 ) on the Lily Auction. I was up front and stated that this cultivar would be happier in a more southern location - zone 7 or higher. The winner is from somewhere south of here, so hopefully it will be happier now. IMHO, don't waste your money on trying it again. It had every opportunity to do well here but it just barely hung on. I have sold/ am selling several other cultivars that were highly "hyped" a few years ago. Stupidly, I paid top dollar for them ( in the $150-250 range) about 5-6 years ago - will I EVER learn?!!?? but they are not happy here. Several of them did not bloom at all this year because we had a late extended freeze that really knocked the evergreens especially for a loop. Life's too short! The unhappy campers are outta here to make way for plants that WILL be happy.
