Dallas, Oregon is a bit warmer and drier than the Seattle area, but still green and beautiful. Our summers are wonderful. And yes, we do look younger. Just look at my avatar photo, and I'm 72. Oregon, the fountain of youth. Whistling

Finally we know the secret!
I was in Seattle in August 2013. Was that a rainier season?

Anna I know 2013 was just a couple years ago but now I really can't remember Whistling I think it was a wetter July (not unusual for us) so it probably was a greener August. I'm from Michigan, and I do remember coming here and thinking the trees were all so tall and evergreen! Hurray! And the mountains wow! In Michigan we use a chairlift at the ski slope for a 200 foot hill - seriously! nodding Blinking Rolling on the floor laughing

I brought a pot of Sempervivum braunii from Austin to Houston when I moved last March. It spent the summer on the south facing covered front porch. There is a tree close by, so it only gets a little morning sun. It stills looks good, even with all the heat and humidity. It's planted in cactus soil mix with extra crushed granite mixed in.

Oh Sondra, we would love to see a photo of it. That is a great semp, and very tough. Sounds like you have found the perfect conditions for it.

You also (I believe...) have to ensure there is a space before the @ and at the end of the tag so the system can distinguish the tag statement.

You've been given good info @SALL20 from both Bev and Connie. When I was new, I had the same problem. There are other tricks for navigating ATP as well, but my mind is mostly mush nowadays so the trails aren't clearly marked. It takes a lot of trudging on those trails before the track is clear enough to follow Smiling .

Wow Sondra! That is a healthy and productive semp. I will look for that one. You have figured out the right soil /sun combination.
I moved my shelf with the pots so the semps will get more morning sun although still under the eaves. I think that might be a good plan for winter.
Greg, Hmm...are there chairlifts for toboggans too? Blinking

This the semp that managed the hot, hot Texas sun the best. The first photo was taken in April after it got potted up and hung. The group it was in were simply labeled 'hens' Smiling , so it's a noid. I did select it because it was the only one with a single little chick. That chick grew in the heat, as you can see in the photo I took today. The other semps that were near and got a bit more shade suffered more, so I'm hoping this particular one will be well adapted to the conditions here. It's beginning to color up since the weather has cooled off. I seem to have three semps that tolerate the sun. The others do better when I can get them in some shade.

What a grand experiment Donald.
Now we will all have to help in the search to see what other semps can handle the difficult Texas summers. I am really excited about this.
Between you and Anna we should come up with a great list of Texas semps. Hurray!
