David, I can't wait to see your pictures from Squaw Creek, that's going to be an amazing sight! I'd love to see so many birds in one place ... I'd just have to remember to wear a hat or carry an umbrella.

Last week from the Headquarters ~ 3/4 mile away, the din was something else.

Belted Kingfisher

Great Egret

Not a bird but I spotted it behind a neighbors house this morning! And, it was kinda close to an Egret and Aningha in the same yard. I'd heard they were in the waterway but it's the first Gator I've spotted in the four years we've been in this house.

Yeah, a gator! It was only about a 4 footer but sure looked a lot bigger when it was on the bank a few houses down and then in the water. Someone reported it to our HOA office and they called a trapper who came out and caught it on the first throw of his fishing line! Anything under 5 or 6 feet they don't kill, they take them and release them someplace else. The trapper posed with it before he put it in the back of his truck to cart it off.

Gator is going to get relocated. Good shot of it in the water -- I can see it's eye pretty good.

No, it gets too cold here for gators. They stay in the south part of the state. Thank goodness.

Gosh, I'm surprised. There are gators in the Dismal Swamp in VA. It gets pretty cold there.
