That's the second time this week I've done that. The other day I texted my sister and told her I couldn't wait to get my own truck again so I could start saving "glass" because I'm filling up roughly twice a week right now. She had a hey day with that one. Rolling on the floor laughing

Pepper,
Yes! I remember we were all excited to see them mounted. Sliding back windows are great! If we forget to use re-breather when going past the turkey farm we open it to take the bad air OUT!

Jim and Pepper,
ROTFL!!!
I shouldn't, but I do usually proof read!

Air cut! Shrieking with laughter now!

Went and looked at a truck today. It has motor issues so we walked away. Antifreeze looked like sludge also which was another red flag. We think it's gonna need several thousand dollars worth of work.

Jim,
Laughing! Why is that? We grew up with stereos and big speakers in the car, 8 tracks, etc. Why do we have such trouble running a VCR now, lol!

Pepper,
RUN! There are better deals out there. I know you want to stay close because of repair issues, but someone, even on the street might have a reliable vehicle.

I've been looking but it's still on the list just because I can put a new motor in it. But I also don't want to be the one to tell the guy that the motor is shot and only worth a few grand instead of 15k. Sighing!

I'm not rushing on it. If I decide to go after it I will have the mechanic who will be doing all the work with me to total all the costs on it. I'm thinking I'll wait out this week and see what else pops up then see what my dad says about going that route.

You know you're from the Midwest when you're happy to cruise the gravel roads.

billy - it's even better when there's no one else on the gravel road but you. DH and I did a long weekend getaway driving around the southern half of IN in late summer. I wanted to see the covered bridges before the roads were congested with the fall color crowd. Some of the bridges were out in the middle of nowhere on gravel roads with no one else around. It was almost surreal.

My dad has a Ranger one year newer than my old one that is his everyday truck. We use the big truck for pulling the trailer or for putting stuff in the bed that won't fit in the Ranger and as a backup truck. Normally I only drive this one when my truck goes into the shop for a day or two.

I love gravel road cruising. Very relaxing.

Cindy,
We usually take the jeep out on the gravel. We used to keep the top off but the sun rally beats down so we just use the soft canvas one. Both tops are soft and the doors just slip out of the hinges. I love gravel roading! Most of the time we never meet anyone and can stop and take pictures. I take a lot of pictures on the run tho.

Pepper,
I'm glad you still have a vehicle you can use. I hope you find something of your own soon tho.

You are from the Midwest when halfway through may you have a frost warning and a low of 31°. Mother nature in Wisconsin is bi-polar!

Yes, the weather might be a clue that you are in the Midwest. Roads? Spent some time in Missouri where most of the country roads are gravel or worse. Where I live there is not a gravel road within 50 miles of my house and I like that. To me the single biggest trait of the Midwest is the friendly people. I've lived on the east coast, west coast and many other countries. Nothing like the Midwest. Had company awhile ago and we went to Walmart. When we got home they commented on the amazing number of relatives I have and/or the number of people I work with. Eh? Well, you said high to so many people. I had to explain that I do not have any relatives and no job around here. One just says high to strangers. Gene
