The piano will be one of the easiest things to make...I worry more about things like hand rails on stair cases and statues.. But tables chairs the furniture--->No problem

I can see that. You can make anything you want to make, and it will all turn out perfectly with your talent and perseverance.

Well, if you read farther down in the description of that "pianist" Hilarious! it actually does sort of "play" music. And apparently the keys move when it's "playing." But still...OUCH! Probably wouldn't live well outdoors, either. But wouldn't it be fun to put in a little water proof speaker and hook up a remote player for your piano?
Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid.

You guys wont believe this! I was in AutoZone the other day and found 1/6 scale chandeliers! Yes, I said chandeliers! In a autoparts store...Apparently people hang them on there rear view mirror....So i bought one for the conservatory and some for the ruins..There 7.99 each..Could not even build them myself for that...Here is before and after pictures.......................

Autozone, A whole new world for me.
What a stroke of luck.
I was wondering where you found the small pieces in your compositions.

Every time I pop in here to see what's going on, I'm more of a fan! WOW!

These amazing projects are great examples of the fun & good things one can do with math, or said another way, a fun and good thing that requires some math, or at least careful measuring, to do. If only we could teach math while standing up, doing worthwhile/necessary/fun things, everyone would get & enjoy it, or at least more of it! Sorry for the nerdy interjection, couldn't resist!

I love your interjection..Your comment reminds me about children of today..Math and fun things to do...Those days long ago when I was a child and had an imagination as tall as the empire state building..Building things and exploring the countryside...I remember beautiful blue summer skies, More lightning bugs than a coffee can could hold....Im so afraid those days are long gone...I think kids of today somehow miss this important time of there life..It makes me feel sorry for them...Im not sure if this goes along with you comment but I just needed to tell you this...

My childhood was much like yours. I do feel sorry for the kids of today. Most of them have their noses buried in their electronics full time. :(

I would never have believed that you'd find 1/6th scale chandeliers at Autozone! I guess you never know what you'll find, so you just have to keep your eyes open! That saves you extra work, and they look wonderful!

Shape, I had a childhood like yours. I was a wanderer and a dreamer. It has served me well.
My mother said I "marched to a different drummer " I have a great creative life that is mostly gardening these days, but between 1970 and 1996 I made clay sculpture and functional pottery,I gave up the heavy stuff to paint and still do.

I couldn't get your blog to come up with that link. I think this one might work.

I haven't had time to go through it, but I will.

Shape that is just odd that you're finding chandeliers in all of these unlikely places!

Jo Ann - Beautiful art work!

Shape - Oh my! Who would've guessed you could get a miniature chandelier at Auto Zone! That is the craziest thing I've heard of as of recently! Too funny! Lucky for you, though! Looks great in the conservatory! Thumbs up

I have to agree with you about children losing their childhood. It's true. I work with Pre-K students and what they are expected to learn now-a-days is what I learned in K and 1st grade. We have to test them several times a year to see if they are making gains. As they get older, it's more and more tests. The joy seems to have gone out of education. It has been replaced with stress to pass tests. Forget planned and spontaneous learning! Sadly, Teachable Moments may be a thing of the past. Behavior problems with students seems to be on the rise. And you are right about the lack of respect from children. That issue does not apply to every student, but far more than when I was growing up. School teachers and staff are over-worked and underpaid. Mark my words ... there is going to be a teacher shortage in the near future. Fewer and fewer college bound students want to take out loans to major in education. It will take them forever to pay back those loans on the low wage that teachers make. Things have changed so drastically. It is such a shame to have so much stress in a young child's life. But education is just the tip of the iceberg for what is wrong with the world today. I am forever hopeful that the future is indeed bright for children and adults alike.
What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters, compared to what lies within us.
