Yeah, I always strive for branching. I'm glad I had a good excuse to cut this one. It was very leggy. I was quite surprised when it put off as many branches as it did, given the state it was in (floppy, weak, yellow).

I'm always stuck deciding between natural growth and development vs. pruning for what I prefer.

Of my nineteen plants, five of them branched. I haven't cut any to encourage branching, just letting nature have her way (at least for a while).

I like to keep my Adenium obesums short and compact with lots of branching. Some seedlings do ramify on their own...if not, I ""pinch" the stems to encourage branching.

But there were several I had left alone to do their own thing. And here's one of them...pictures taken Dec. 24, 2015. An Anaconda wannabe! Whistling

I have since transplanted her into a larger, deeper pot and she had grown out 5 branches at the apex and has a thicker stem now...will post pictures soon.

I love it KD! Hilarious! I've never let any of mine get that tall. I always get antsy and pinch or cut them back. I kind of want one now. Definitely stands out!

Ken, do you have long legs? I've got a special adenium that I've been thinking of naming after you. Hilarious! Hilarious! These pictures are of him when I first lifted him up on Sep. 12, 2015. He Has grown a little bigger since then but has not yet produced flowers. I'll take new photo's of him in a day or two.

Just transplanted one of my seedlings in a small bonsai type planter. The seedling was living in a tray in full sun but after potting I put in protected area. Barely disturbed the roots because it was in paper pot, I peeled it off and stick in new potting mix filled pot. When do you think it will be safe to go in sun?

Judy, I place my newly transplanted adeniums under my patio where they receive sun a few hours a day. I give them about a week to settle in and begin growing new roots, then move them out to get more sun. In my situation I have an area between two coconut trees that has palm fronds overhead that gives shade from mid-day sun. Of course you probably don't have coconut trees Hilarious! Hilarious! so a shade tree or any kind of shade from mid-day sun is good. After a month there I move them out into all-day sun exposure.

This is how I handle new transplants. Others who live in your zone might have a totally different way of treating the plants. Big Grin

I know that the blooming time is based a lot on our growth zone and the type of tree. Are there certain Adeniums that tend to bloom longer?
Also what trees tend to bloom with there own true wild type color? Are there pics? Or just the standards Pinks and pink and whites.

Are there wild type flowers that are red? If so which species? Has anybody had Crispin bloom yet? Would love to see them.

Does anyone know if the hybrid types of Black Fire, Black Asia, Black Widow are real things? Are these altered images/ scams? Are there actually black hybrid D.R.? They are beautiful.

I can't answer your first question. With regards to Crispum...I have two that I think might be dwarfs. They are 22 months old and are staying small...no blooms yet.

The image you have shown looks to be the real thing. Adenium hybridizers have been doing marvelous work at creating beautiful blooms.
