It only took 3 months for it to leaf back out and start blooming again. It's not full leafed out, but it's in good shape now. Here are a few pics. I wish I knew an ID for it.

Thanks, T. It seemed like it was 6 months! Waiting on plants to bloom is so hard.

Thank you! It really takes a long time to see these changes, but I'm glad it's doing ok. I water with distilled water when we're there, and have to use well water when we're away. so far the leaves aren't looking too bad.

Karen, I'm happy for you your rehab-baby is healthy now and free of nasty critters, and is blooming nicely. Glad you are not taking her with you any more on your jaunts between your two homes--AZ and NM. She appears perfectly happy staying put at one home. Angel

Hi KD, yes, she's much happier not traveling! I'm finding I do have to turn her in the greenhouse. I didn't at first, and noticed most of the flowers were only on one side. I'll be turning her from now on. Right before we left I caught a mouse running around on her, knocking blooms off. Grumbling

Mouse should not attack your adenium as it is a toxic plant.

In any case ! Very cool project, thanks for sharing ! Smiling

I didn't know that, so thank you! If I ever put it outdoors for the summer maybe the deer and rabbits will leave it alone.

They seriously should not attack it !! It is poisonous and irritant !
I am sure you already note it when you carve it ! It attacks hands.

I can't speak for mice but young deer regularly nibble on toxic plants like Plumeria. They just do not know any better and I'll see big tears in the leaves and sometimes the growing tip, where they have tried a bite. It is usually a one time thing, they are quick learners. We only see this when the new fawns are around.

You would be absolutely amazed at the number of deer in the USA. They are to be found in every small town and even wander down streets in large cities. It appears they are very adaptable.

Around here it is not unusual for them to climb steps and munch on potted plants on porches.

I agree! I had one go up the steps of my second story deck where I had plants.
The young ones don't know about toxic plants. I had one eat an entire Oleander bush down to the ground.

I wonder whether that deer had a tummy-ache? I don't know how "toxic" our plants are to deer.

I wondered if I'd find a dead deer on the property! The plant is growing back from the root, so they will have a chance to try again. Blinking

The deer and bear both come on my deck. So far they don't go near my tree's. Just everything else. I had to stop using organic because they play in the planters if it is there.

Interesting that it's the organic stuff that draws them. We also have a bear coming around.
