Here is my clivia.........it's kind of pushed in between the sweet potato bush and the cup and saucer vine. Looks like I need to go and pull out the dead leaves on it again. Green Grin!

Is that clivia still blooming well Anna? If so, I would move it to the end of the "to do" list. I can't even see the soil in mine and have a hard time watering it, the water runs off the leaves because it can't get in. But, it is usually covered in flowers so who am I to question it.

I think it had at least 8 bloom stalks last winter when it bloomed in the GH. I don't expect flowers till late February or March

The timing is spot on. Eight blooms sounds perfect too, if it has fewer this year then you can think about re-potting otherwise count your blessings.

Well, I'm a proud Clivia momma finally! I've had this plant (or maybe plants?) of pale yellow Clivia for at least 6 years, and this is the first time ever it has actually bloomed. A little late in the season, and the flowers have a very short stem, but still . . Hurray! I did move it under cover for the winter, let it get good and dry, and not too chilled, so maybe that is the trick for blooming this one. It seems to like its new spot in the garden too.

Hurray! Hurray! Congrats to you! I believe I read somewhere, if I'm not mistaken, that if you increase the amount of water given, the stem will elongate. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Well, it had over an inch of rain yesterday afternoon, Deborah, so I guess we'll see.

Lovely blooms Elaine! Oh, so nice to know you have a bloom at this time of the year! My clivia missed its winter blooming time, gotten busy with new leaves, hoping it will still try later.

Oh I did that with my clivia before, once I saw the buds showing, I made a generous watering, and it did push out the stalk much better.

Two friends mentioned recently that their clivias did not bloom this year. None of mine bloomed either. The ones in the ground bloomed last year after a bad winter and did not bloom this year after a mild winter. Nothing makes sense.

From what I've read, the amount of rain makes more difference than cold or mild. They need a dry period in winter. We had a rainy winter here, but I moved it so it was under a roof overhang and didn't get any water for about 6 weeks or so. Well, maybe a light foliar spray when I watered the orchids .. . . but not enough to wet the roots.

Love the color! Hurray! I am waiting for my yellow clivia to bloom. Had it for a year. Maybe next year?
