RobinD said:Strange that they aren't blooming.....maybe next year would be a better year....guess you have to try many varieties before you find the one you like.....I received the fair entry book a few days ago....a new competition is 'best tasting tomato' ....would love to enter, but you need to present 4lbs.....I know I don't have that amount on any plant, & I planted all different varieties.....let me know what your tastiest tomato is this year, & I'll plant some for next year...no cherry tomatoes, just slicers....the prize money is good, would love to enter next year!

I grew Blue Lake for many years many years ago. Had plenty of beans so I have no idea why these are taking so long to flower.

Some years I do grow parsley but this year I just didn't get to it. But I do have a nice bunch of cilantro growing. My neighbor came over to ask if she could have some of the parsley but was not wanting it when she learned it was cilantro. I do really like cilantro. I know not everyone does. Apparently my neighbor is in the hate it camp.

Only two this year. Indigo Ruby and Indigo Kumquat. One is a larger cherry type. The other grape shaped. Both get that deep blue coloring where the sun hits the tomatoes. They taste pretty good but mainly I think they are grown because they look different.

Yay, Jumper! I remember when my tomato crop didn't really come in until Sept. I'd teach all day, then come home & can tomatoes, or make tomato juice.....not anymore! I've gotten lazy...or old!

I froze one of the eggplant towers and ate the other.

I don't make my own sauce anymore. I used to and I used to freeze it.

Yup, me too. Just eat them fresh. And I do eat a lot of tomatoes but still!! Mostly I give them away as it makes me happy to have tomatoes to share. People really seem to appreciate getting fresh tomatoes from the garden.

I was complaining about my poor bean production earlier. Well, the Blue Lake still are not making any beans. Barely a flower on them too. I am totally discouraged with them.

However I am getting a lot of beans as my row of Emmerite, Carminat and Monte Gusto pole beans is setting nicely. And so are the French Golds. Also the Northeaster Romanos. Plus I have various assorted others here and there giving me beans.

That's awful, and strange about the Blue Lake's...

I only grew Blue Lake bush type green beans this year and they produced (and are continuing to produce) mass amounts of beans.

I have not tried the bush Blue Lake.

Here are some of my Emmerite Pole Beans. These are really nice beans.

They are a very nice bean. And so are both the French Fold and Monte Gusto yellow pole beans I picked but did not take a picture of.

Yesterday I picked beans but forgot to pick the Yard Long Beans. So picked those today. Along with just afew extra beans that I probably just missed getting yesterday.

It is so hot I was a dripping mess within minutes of being outside picking. But I had beans to pick and of course tomatoes. Some cucumbers and eggplant also. But not pleasant working outside and being in what felt like a steambath.
