Dogsndaylilies , I somehow missed your post when I first reviewed the responses . So sorry ! It was very very informative and I am going to give you a thumbs up for it !!!!!!!! I dont do facebook so have no idea why anyone would " Like" something there . I know that Houzz uses that format and it was one of the things that I didn't like about the site after they took it over .

Thanks again Sooby for your contributions to my education about this site.

That's pretty neat, IMO! I'm going to see if I can dig up a picture of one to look at, I'm curious. ... Whistling

signet said:So do you ship daylilies to Canada then Cynthia ? I know I have bought seeds from you before but curious to know if you ship plants to Canada. I know the cost of a phyto from Michigan is $40.00 which is really not too bad considering some of the other states prices for a phyto.

No I don't ship to Canada Heather, just USA. I remember you buying seeds from me. I have a lot of Canadian customers. Thumbs up

Still here! Still interested! I'm going to put up a list of daylilies I have on the plants list and anything else I can find to trade. May take a bit of time though and spring is still a ways off so no great rush.

I should say that in this swap, any participants can trade any plants they wish ....with daylilies being one of them . I called it a daylily trade because that is what I am most interested in, however , there is no reason that while trading daylilies we can't also trade lilies , or iris or hosta or anything else anyone is interested in . Also participants can trade with any other particpants . I am glad to trade with any and all of you but feel free to work a swap with anyone you like to .

Morning all . Thought I would drop quick note just to touch bases with you all. Time marches on and hard to believe that it is less than a month until the official end of winter ! Someone needs to tell my daffs and narcissus that cuz they are up about 2 inches now . As a matter of fact the same goes for all the little bulbs too. They are all poking their heads up That I think is a first for me here in S.W. Ontario at this time of year .

We survived the very brief but brutal cold weather week before last and days are getting longer....minute by minute . I can't wait !

Wondering how all of you fared over the last month. Hope all is well and that we get to chat soon.

Heather, are you not in today's freezing rain warning? We are here in Eastern Ontario, with a return to January temperatures predicted for next week. No plant noses appearing here yet, not even any ground visible because of the snow cover, which is just as well given that winter seems to have arrived late and plan on staying late here.

I have had snowdrops blooming for over 2 weeks now and the daffodils are up about 2 inches. Woke up to about an inch of snow this morning. We are in that band of weather that is a mix of snow and freezing rain but so far just snow.

Sooby , we didn't get any freezing rain although it was predicted we would . Instead we got cold rain .......then last
night temps dropped and we got snow again .So looking out the door this morning there is about 3/4 of an inch of snow covering the gardens but this past Saturday , Sunday and Monday were quite warm , we had no snow and the ground was thawing which was unfortunate as we were pet sitting our son's huge white german shepherd and the mud he dragged in along with our 4 mini schnauzer's was dreadful.

Well about another 3 weeks have gone by and what a change out there . I have been working in the gardens waging my annual battle against dandelions and finishing cleaning out gardens ( there is lots to do ) that didnt get done before the snow flew in December . I have to act quickly cuz things are growing in leaps and bounds .I am hoping we don't get nailed later on with a late frost ....that would be disheartening . Daylilies are sprouting some are up as high as 3 inches just in the last few days others just breaking ground now . I have my first flowers on one of the varieties of Lungwort that I grow and of course the snowdrops are blooming everywhere . I am usually at the point this time of year feeling like spring will never get here but this year has been such a mild winter that I think we are there.......Woo hoo! I LOVE IT !

I don't suppose it will get quite that low where you are, but Friday night here in Eastern Ontario is forecast to be -13C (8F) with several nights almost as cold after that. We still have snow at the field edges. You must be quite a bit warmer there even than Toronto, we just came back from To and I didn't see anything growing in the gardens downtown yet. They had no remaining snow though.

Yes Sooby , I guess we are quite a bit farther ahead than you gardeners out east of us . We have no snow at all left . We had a thunderstorm last night and things are virtually leaping out of the ground . I would say things have grown at least a 1/2 inch just over night .

Here are some photos
