I found a few pics from last year of Pueblo, the jonquilla I mentioned,
starts yellow, turns white
love it, but I failed to get any decent pictures, here though you can see multiple stages
Terri, daffs will make best use of fertilizer in spring--when their leaves and roots are busy gathering everything to grow next year's flower inside the bulb...I just use compost...and yes, shade will always be a limiting factor. If the shade is dense before the trees even leaf out in the spring it is probably too shady for daffs to be blooming machines
Ipheion is one of my very favorites--it prefers sun of course, but will do alright in part shade
What about hepatica, have you tried any of those?
