Big Hellebores fan here. I have been collecting them for about five years now. Can't get enough of them.
Dan Hinkley is one of the great subject matter experts on hellebores. Julia, thanks for sharing his tip about the lime chips. Hadn't heard that one before. By the way, Burpee has been selling a lot of the Dan Hinkley hellebores, including Kingston Cardinal

Hellebores are a bit pricey as far as perennials go, but well worth the cost considering their longevity and how well they perform for shade gardeners
I got my first hellebores at one of the annual Virginia area plant sales that features vendors from all over the Mid Atlantic region. It was my first exposure to hellebores and Judith Tyler from Pine Knot Farms. I saw Judith and her husband Dick at several more plant sales over the years and actually went to one of their winter hellebores festivals at the Farm in Clarksville, VA in 2013. This is my blog post with pictures from the trip

Judith has also written one of the definitive books about Hellebores. Good source of information if you are interested in knowing all about this wonderful plant
